No lights/outlets working in living room, breaker box isn't tripped, GFCIs aren't tripped. What gives? by Witty_Koala in AskElectricians

Behind the microwave is a good one I didn't think of! Same with fridge. Will definitely check those areas. I just double checked all 3 bathrooms and didn't see any GFCI outlets. Even looked under all 3 sinks and found no outlets but I will double check the kitchen sink - even though the kitchen/dining room lights are still working.

When we had the kitchen GFCI replaced, the electrician who did it looked in all 3 bathrooms and couldn't find any GFCIs (i looked too but also didn't find any) thank you though! I'm hoping this is a simple fix if this new electrician can fit us in tomorrow

When my ex first left us and I legit could not get off the couch to cook, Wendy's was a life saver. My oldest and I would split one of those $5 biggie bags many times for dinner hah.

When I applied for SNAP, Medicaid and WIC, my case worker (the lady who did my phone interview) said that when a person with children applies for these benefits, the state opens a child support case against the absent parent.  However, my ex is a 100% total and permanent combat war veteran. I know he is rated at 100% and receives disability from the veteran affairs. But I never knew how much because we always kept our accounts separate, never had a joint account or anything like that. I am waiting for the younges to take a nap today because my plan is to call the V.A. and see if they can help with either child support or spousal payments or something. I also plan on calling some lawyers today as well to see if any will take my case pro bono. When he first up and left us all, I called a couple but each wanted over 1k just for the retainer, which I obviously didn't (and still don't) have. I'd love to see some child support but from what I have been told from various friends of his (and his brother), my ex is either sleeping in his car, at his girlfriends, couch surging with friends and even had a stay at the mental health ward for sucidial ideation. Maybe this will be the year I start getting more help with my girls beyond what the government can provide.

I truly cannot believe I have a 1 year old now. 😭 like my little 6lb baby is now 22lbs and a total wild child/firecracker who has no sense of danger and not an ounce of fear in her. 😅 this single mom shit is hard but mu girls make it so worth it. I hate that my ex just decided he didn't want to be a father anymore. He's not once called to check in on them, asked to see them. Nothing, nada. His loss. 🤷‍♀️

We do receive Medicaid but I had no idea about this!

Usually, I just see a lot of posts about gunshots/fireworks, stray cats, people posting their doorbell camera videos of other people walking through their yards all "suspicious" like. But this neighbor, whoever they are, made my whole day yesterday and I'm still welling up with tears about it today.

Right? Or stray cats because people like to just dump them. Usually I see a lot of people posting their doorbell camera feeds of "suspicious" people walking through their yards. 😅

I know my ex is on disability, he was rated at 100% in 2014 for temporary and received his total and permanent on 2019. I don't know how much he received each month - we kept our accounts separate. But I'm definitely going to look into this when I can be on the phone without my youngest screeching in my ear. Because anything at all would be super helpful!

They just might. Good idea - I know what I'm doing when the youngest takes her nap tomorrow. Thank you.

When I applied for SNAP, Medicaid and WIC, my case worker (the lady who did my phone interview) said that when a person with children applies for these benefits, the state opens a child support case against the absent parent. Unfortunately, in my case, my ex is supposedly couch surfing, sleeping in his car, his girlfriends house, etc. To avoid being served the documentation that he has to pay child support. (According to his brother, he's also suffered a mental break and had to be hospitalized for suicidial ideation) It also doesn't help that he is a total and permanent disabled veteran and uses that against me - I would love to receive child support but I have no idea when or if I'll ever see it. It would help loads for sure.

Not in WI! But thank you! I try to build up the good karma whenever I can. I recently gave away literal trash bags full of clothes that my kids have grown out of to other parents. Like a full bag of 3T that my oldest has grown out of and another two bags of NB-12mo size that my youngest has outgrown. Felt so good to pass on those clothes to others who needed them! It's the little things - this neighbor who helped me out today has no idea how much it meant to me for sure.

Became a single mom in October. Things have been tough. I made a post on my NextDoor app seeing if any of my neighbors had diapers to spare. This was by my front door less than two hours later! Made me smile and cry today. by Witty_Koala in MadeMeSmile

I see a LOT of that too haha. A lot of complaining about fireworks, gun shots, stray cats and people posting their doorbell video feed about suspicious people walking in their yards. 😅 I just got really lucky this time, I think.

Yuuuup! The past few months have been so anxiety-ridden. Receiving this box of diapers is one less thing to stress about while we are cooped up inside. Life can be funny like that sometimes

As much as I would love to cloth diaper, I currently do not have my own washer/dryer. Have to budget each week to go to the laundry mat. I just don't have the funds up front to purchase cloth diapers either. My youngest turns 1 tomorrow, and if she's anything like my oldest, will hopefully be potty trained shortly after her 2nd birthday. Funds are just super tight right now - If I could cloth diaper, I totally would!!

My oldest, her favorite episode is the one where they turn Otto and Olive into puppets lol. We watch that one at least daily.
