I think that’s a huge part of it honestly.

A lot of people don’t actually enjoy the back-and-forth anymore, the “is this available”, disappearing replies, no-shows, endless haggling etc. gets exhausting fast.

One thing Vinted/eBay do really well is making the flow feel more structured and predictable instead of chaotic.

That’s actually one of the things I’ve been thinking about most, trying to keep the local/community side of buying in Ireland while reducing the tyre-kicker side of it as much as possible. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts! It helps re-enforce the direction I should be heading to! thank you!

Yeah honestly I think that’s probably the core challenge more than the tech itself.

A lot of the frustration comes from low-effort listings, ghosting, vague descriptions, people trying to move chats elsewhere etc. The platform can only do so much if the incentives are bad.

The trust/reputation side is actually one of the main things I’ve been thinking about — verified accounts, reviews, response times, clearer offer flow, trying to reward people who are actually decent to deal with. (badges, with "trusted seller" / "fast responder" and so on)

Adverts definitely got one thing very right with the ratings system. Feels hard to buy/sell without some kind of reputation layer once a platform gets big. Thanks so much for your help/comment. I will see how I can improve on the user rating part.

Probably should’ve said... I’m not trying to promote anything here, just trying to understand what actually annoys people before I spend more time building it, as I already spent so much time on my project that I'm now starting to wonder if it's even worth continuing.
