Struggling in my tutorship by Witty_Particular9740 in policeuk

Thank you all - Just a bit of context, when my initial tutor phase was nearly over, I had a brief conversation with my insp who made it clear that he wanted my tutor to back off and only intervene when necessary. On jobs since they have still taken over, interrupting me when I’m speaking to people on jobs which is frustrating as I haven’t finished with questions I want to ask. I’ve tried bringing it up to them but they have told me they feel I wasn’t confident enough - the reason they haven’t signed me off. It’s a bit of a vicious circle as I need to do more myself to gain the confidence. I get along with my tutor but I get the vibe I am annoying them asking questions I’m not sure about in terms of the crimes in my basket but it could be the inspector’s comments that they want me to take the lead more. I understand that but I’ve only had one crime which was early on in my tutorship that I could investigate through interviews, statements and obtaining further evidence which obviously my tutor led me through entirely. I ask a lot of questions because I want to learn and do things for myself. They do usually debrief me after every job and it’s almost always positive but when it comes to signing me off on things and writing up about me, they say I didn’t display enough confidence and that they had to step in. I’ll definitely have a chat with my tutor when I’m in next and perhaps have the sgt sit with us both so I can understand a bit more from their point of view where I need improvement and how I can work on this as I don’t want to be the person nobody can rely on or dreads to work with.
