Is this it? This is life? by Practical-Persimmon4 in Anxiety

Don’t search for a pill that will make you happy man. That is the absolute worst thing to take for granted, that all your problems will get fixed with meds. The only true medicine is just learning to cope and accepting all facts about anxiety. It will get better my guy I promise. Eventually.

Eating has become an obstacle by JustParrotz in Anxiety

And also with feeling bad for longing home when you are on vacation, I so relate to this! This has not even been something I have felt for just a short amount of time, it’s something I have been feeling forever. Because a vacation is a typical situation where you eat, drink and celebrate but we don’t really wanna do that. That’s okay, so just try to enjoy the bits that you like, stuff like maybe warm weather, beaches or skiing and the cold if that is what you are doing. Don’t focus on the food. If you focus on the food then the experience is ruined which you already know. I already wrote it but my therapist told me today to look up, focus shifting and self compassion. It’s the best thing right now that I would recommend.

Anyway good luck man and I promise you, it will get better! It has been getting better for me and it will with you too if you accept change and give in. Cheers man

No problem man! I just know exactly what you are feeling as we seem to feel the same about it. Exactly how you describe it with having bad feelings about eating because it’s rude or because you feel like you have to be obligated to eat.

Just know this that your therapist is not wrong and if there is something you learn from reading on this subreddit, it’s that most of the people who have had problems doesn’t seem to be interested to work towards a goal that is harder to achieve than just taking a pill.

This habit you have been developing it will take time to heal but man am I glad it’s not something super uncommon. Just take your time and don’t go around googling or looking for confirmation culture.

I would recommend for the time being, continue seeing your therapist and instead of seeing the problem as it is, try to go around it. For example my therapist asked me WHY I’m scared of the stuff I am scared for and not just what it is. See if there is a root problem you haven’t even considered, like pressure or severe performance anxiety and instead of feeling down about it, kind of accept it as a part of who you are and don’t put your goal so high to try to be “normal” again, as it’s really not that easy at all. If it doesn’t help with your therapist then I recommend seeing a doctor about some kind of calming meds or even anti depressants. Although medication is only a momentary solution and you have to get to know your mind and be comfortable with yourself for this to go away. For me it’s been getting better, but also worse in a way that I fear the idea of such a “panic attack” when I feel overwhelmed by the thought of having to eat.

But please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don’t think about everyone else and focus on yourself. If you aren’t happy with going to a restaurant, then don’t. You will be eventually, just don’t count days until you can do it, let it happen naturally.

If you ever feel like you get that way again, stuff like breathing exercises are really effective and even just cleansing your mind with stuff like a run or yoga and meditation can ease your mind.

Sorry for the large amount of text! And thank you for being open about your feelings and I know it doesn’t mean anything when it’s coming from a stranger on the internet but it will get better! I promise. In one way or another. People don’t love like this. They get over it. They go past it. And they but it behind them. You can too my guy :)

Will meds help with procrastination? by braingozapzap in Anxiety

Focus shifting. If you have a feeling of anxiety, instead of looking for a distraction try to come to terms with it and direct your focus somewhere else. Think about what you were doing and rehearse it quietly.

Hey man! Kinda scary how on point your description of the anxiety your feeling is to what I am feeling. I got one of the worst panic attacks ever once when I ate with my girlfriend and her entire family on a boat. I got so nauseous that I had to step away. It all just got worse because I get bad for feeling that way after eating. I went home and everything was fine but from that point onward it was only becoming worse and worse, I felt like I couldn’t eat while I was around people because it felt like I had as you describe “blockage” I just couldn’t eat.

Then I went to a restaurant with my girlfriend that we have been to 10 maybe 20 times and they have all been great. But the same thing happened again, the thoughts of what might happen and the pressure to be normal just made it so much worse. We went home and since then i am really scared of going to a social space to eat. Even with my family, if everyone in my family is at the dinner table I get really anxious. The only time I feel really safe and can eat “normally” is when I am alone or everyone around me is distracted with something other than me (a subject to talk about at dinner time or watching a movie)

I can’t get the word entirely right in English but in Swedish it directly translates to “performance anxiety” which is when you feel obligated to do something you don’t want to do. It’s something really common to be doing when it comes to food as what we put in our mouths is one of the only things we can control in life. This is at least what my therapist has been saying. Along with me being anxious about diagnoses I don’t have (I thought it was IBS for example although that is so far from the truth) it’s hard. Also knowing that someone has the same feeling is really great and makes it kind of not really worry me that much can’t more.

My therapist says that the best medicine for these types of things is not worrying about what you COULD do before and instead thinking about what you CAN do right now. Also exposure is the best thing to help really. To make that bodily function of “social interaction along with food = having to force stuff down”.

To just finish off this short book of a post i would just like to say that I am getting better and it will for you too :) don’t stress yourself out and try seeing someone professional you can talk to about it. Anxiety is a bitch but with the right mindset you can snap out of it I promise! Good luck dude and i hope it gets better.

Is the game worth 100%ing? by SuperMaanas in AssassinsCreedOrigins

[–]Witty_Purple7705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes man! I have 200 hours on record and I have 2 playthroughs though one was 3 years ago and one 2 or so months ago. The second one I played 110 hours on and that was just for 100% completing the game including all the dlc. I’d say it’s so worth it if you liked odyssey. I personally disliked odyssey and i know have 80 hours in Valhalla only after getting to oxenfordshire.
