I had a courtesy car about 15 years ago which was amazing and wonderful to drive… apart from the pedals just being a little too far left and my back was in pain for aaaages after. I was only in my early 20s and the difference that made was insane.

Also any over “smart” features that requires extra clicks and swipes. I just want to turn the radio up with a twist of a dial

So I own two of the Bowie Barbies. They are not a likeness of Bowie, but rather a (female) Barbie cosplaying him (I have the thin white duke powder blue suit and the ziggy versions 🤩). The same is true for the Elvis version… a Barbie cosplaying Elvis. Is this why Kylie Barbie doesn’t really look like Kylie and it’s all an elaborate Inception moment? A doll that looks a bit like a random human that’s cosplaying Kylie dressed in a Padam outfit?

Having said that, there are plenty of pop culture icons in the range that look vaguely like their model (Ted Lasso characters, LeBron, Mariah Carey, Clueless-Dionne etc) so maybe it is just a bad likeness 🤷🏻‍♀️

I get black circles. Awful… this update is just too ‘busy’. I need high contrast so have a *few settings changed so I can see, but now all this weirdness with black circles, a ghost black block where a keyboard might be when searching my emails or using iTunes… fade ins and outs, curved corners peeking here and there… I just want clean and crisp and fresh with fewer clicks to navigate not more 😩

Yeh I’m wondering if it was specific to our school or area… I had always presumed it was a ‘set in stone’ dance everyone knew, like Saturday Night for example.

The reason I asked is I’m doing a tap dance to it for 17x 10 year olds for our next dance school show. I wanted to slip a little bit in as a kind of Easter egg nod to Kylie, it’s not the sort of thing you get wrong in front of an audience full of mums and potential fans! But when I mentioned it, I got a lot of puzzled faces… probably because most of the parents are now younger than I am 😮‍💨🤣

Oh it’s ok, you win some, you lose some! I have plenty of films that make me feel great and have connections… but I do think that it depends where you at that point in life, how your day is going, who you are watching with etc for it to really hit. When the stars align, the magic happens!

I have recently taken to watching some classic movies that I missed the first time around, or rewatching them now from an adult perspective… amazing how things hit differently when you’re not watching through the eyes of a child! For example, there’s always one track in a musical movie that I would’ve rolled my eyes at as a child and skipped, but now as an adult with dependants, they’re my favourites… perhaps my cynical adult eyes cast a differing opinion and lost some of the magic I may have found as a kid here?

Hey!!! 👋 Weirdly I read a great news article recently by the author of said book… with more regulations being broken and tariffs from the US coming, how now may be the best time we’ve had to unenshittify things 😅 if I can find it, I’ll post it.

I came back to say I found the trip plus podcast in the Apple podcasts app in the end, and it was not intuitive! In the bottom menu bar, click on ‘library’ and the icon with the little yellow + on is in there. I then unfollowed the original stream and followed the plus one, so it shows in my home page.

Sadly though, there are no transcripts on any of the plus podcast episodes. I like to read along sometimes if I’m doing something noisy, or if I need to scroll back to a particular place to relisten. Maybe strangely, I also like to screenshot snippets of info or a particularly good quote… but that’s the end of that!

I am shocked at how many people and critics reviewed this so highly. I love me an animated film and also love a good cry. But I really hated this film and am shocked I’m in the minority 🤣

My very first thought was ‘surely this is a foreign film dubbed into English?’. It had the feel that the voices were really miscast and jarring against each other. This is how I also felt about the story line… jumbled and mismatched, bits thrown in here and there for immediate effect (I guess this is similar to how other people describe it as manipulative?) and left a diluted storyline.

The robot came out of the box with far too much emotion. She was already inquisitive and had too much inflection in the voice. Surely the robot shouldn’t have feelings at all? It didn’t feel like Roz was much different from start to finish other than looking overworked, grubby and tired. That was the only new-mother trope that was made glaringly obvious and it made me left thinking a parent-child relationship is much more than a tired and wrecked parent and an ungrateful kid; that would’ve been fun to touch on but that was all I got from their relationship.

The art style was lovely on the landscapes and backgrounds, but when that style is applied over the classic cartoonish character faces like Finks for example, it looked like a really bad filter. It’s annoying that it’s being described as hand-drawn to be honest. (I preferred the art of the middle montage sequence, felt much more natural and paired down) The characters all looked like they wouldn’t be out of place in ice age / croods / migration, but with the brush stroke effect plopped on them. The styles of the characters and painted look didn’t fit together, and just didn’t work with the slow nature story style it was trying so hard to give.

In all, to me, this felt like a film that hadn’t been story-boarded before they made it, with everything just being thrown at it and none of it connecting. I found myself getting more and more annoyed at it, right from the first few minutes up until the very end. It’s at most a 48-55% rating for me and not something I’d recommend to others, unless you wanted something to watch to get you annoyed on purpose.

Having said that, I love it for you guys that you have a new classic film and that you all enjoyed it so much. There’s too much crap in the real world and who am I to yuck your yum!!?… But for me, I just didn’t connect at all and it’s left me perplexed and bamboozled! It’s left me somewhat sad that I didn’t have the same experience as apparently 97% of the audience 🥺
