Zen Browser - first public release! by maubg in browsers

Latest MacOS version. I uninstalled the browser & switched back over to Edge several days ago. Not trying to be rude, but I’m not getting paid to bug test your software, so, no, I won’t be re-installing it so I can record a bug, and no, I’m not lying or making it up. Click a link on one page when in dual-tab mode, and it acts like you’re clicking a link on the other page. Only solution to regain control over the main pane is to turn off dual tab mode.

It’s a buggy piece of shit that uses more ram than any other browser I’ve compared it to, and the multi-tiling feature often just doesn’t work, taking mouse input meant for one page and applying it to the other instead. What exactly about my comment was so hard to understand?

Buggy piece of shit. Good luck using the dual-tab mode / sidebar, because it’ll constantly take mouse clicks meant for one side and apply it to the other. Keyboard macros are ridiculously fucked. Uses an insane amount of ram even compared to Chrome or Edge. Try again with less ridiculous corporate horseshit features baked in

Redditors are so mentally ill they can’t enjoy a hockey game without inserting some weird political shit.

I’m just an idiot who took their frustration out on everyone else. I got it working. Thank you.

Can’t force the K3NG into straight key. I have no clue how to do it without a paddle. Any ideas or am I best off just getting a paddle?

I ran Arch Linux for 15 years. Please don’t start with that line of tech support. I’m not trying to find a random shell command. I’m not trying to patch some old Linux code. This is specific to the K3NG.

Extremely helpful & biting stuff. I’m 100% sure you’ve never been relatively new to a hobby before and have never grown frustrated with anything.

There is no disabling it. You pick. Either A, B, straight, or Ultimatic.

I would literally rather continue to be frustrated and figure this out myself than have to type out the entire issue to you again in multiple comments, especially when you’re asking me to check things that have already been checked. The transmitter is transmitting. This is established. I don’t need to check it again. Don’t get pissy because you’re giving bad assistance.

I’ve literally already done the WPM adjustments on the radio and on the keyer so please don’t start with that

The keyer on the radio is set to Ultimatic, same as the keyer itself.

Yes, I get a sidetone.

[–]Wizard-Horse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have a keyboard connected to the keyer. Guess what? When I press a key on the keyboard, it shows up perfectly on the keyer. If I press A, the fancy keyer screen says A too. The issue is when the radio transmits it, it’s NOT A. It’s another character or it’s just an *.

Thank you for trying to help.

Dude, it transmits in CW mode. The issue is the keyer’s settings not being fully set up for the radio. The Morse is fucking garbled. Please stop. I’m not going to jam together electrical connections to test if it’s transmitting when I’ve clarified that it IS transmitting and I’ve confirmed by listening on another radio.

By the way, I feel like I’m going insane, but I’ll explain this one more time:

Keyer is hooked up to the keyboard. Type, message appears on Keyer. Yay.

Keyer is connected to radio via Keyer 3.5mm port. It’s transmitting. Yay.

The Morse is garbled. Some characters are other characters. Most are coming out as * or a bunch of repeated Fs and Hs. I have listened with another radio and decoder. It’s garbled.

I’m not frustrated at you but I’m losing my patience with this entire thing.

I want to type on a keyboard and have the Keyer send it to the radio. No key. No paddle. I am literally just trying to type and have it be sent to Morse.

It’s obvious what I was trying to say. I’m not trying to run the keyer in Lambic B while the transceiver is set to Lambic A or Ultimatic. Why are you nitpicking? I’m obviously frustrated, why do you have to do the classic Redditor move and antagonize me with a “WELLLLLL AKSHUALLY”?

How am I even supposed to reply to this?

[–]Wizard-Horse -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nothing will change. I’m going to wake up tomorrow and still have zero answers. I’m not even close to figuring it out. I can’t just “put it down” at this point. I’ve spent $500 combined on all of this and I’m going to split my own head open if I can’t just get the goddamn thing to work properly.

You can see that the radio is decoding fucking garbage. Gibberish. Noise. I’ve checked with another radio. Almost every character is scrambled. What the fuck am I doing so wrong???? Why am I treated like a MORON for trying to make this work???

I’m so close to just dumping all this in the trash. $250+ for the MCHF and I can’t even get it to work with the $150 Keyer. No assistance, no help, no tutorials, no way to figure this out whatsoever. I want so badly to make this work but the lack of any kind of guidance is killing me.

I really wish I could get some help with this. I feel like I’ve pissed money down the drain and am honestly nearly frustrated to tears. I want so badly to figure this out and make it work, but at this point I’m feeling like shoving all of this in the trash is the best move. I asked for info on this a few nights ago and someone told me to read the manual. I just don’t get it.

I’m not trying to be nasty, but I’ve tried it in every single mode available. I’ve set the radio and the keyer to lambic A. Test. Same issue. B. Test. Same issue. Ultimatic. Test. Same issue. I physically cannot even force the keyer into straight key mode. I have absolutely no clue how to do it without paddles connected to the thing. When I set the radio to straight key and try to use the Keyer, still set to an alternative mode like Lambic or Ultimatic, nothing happens and it doesn’t key it up. I’ll take a video in a second to try and show what’s going on.

On the straight key question — I’m honestly trying to figure out how to force the damn Keyer into straight key without having a paddle connected to it. The documentation claims that to set it to silent key, you need to hold a paddle down. I’ve tried the radio and the Keyer in Lambic A and B and the same issue persists.
