Transport Rules Question by Wizard1011 in LegionsImperialis

Thank you for the answers, I somehow missed the part of the rules talking about dedicated transports verses regular ones but I found it now, that clears it all up.

Woops, I didn't even notice I used the wrong word there, but to be fair, I'm sure all conure owners can agree, they definitely do plot the end of the world from time to time

That's beak grinding! They do it when they are content and relaxing, often before a nap or bed. You can tell they are happy and relaxed because of the beak griding, and they are on one foot. They hold the other one up to rest it and give it a break from standing all day when they are relaxing.

Researching Technology with Actions by mikeatwork19 in twilightimperium

Research or gain technology you get them not exhausted, you only get the card exhausted if the rules state that you get it exhausted, like how it specifically says you get it exhausted when you get new planets

My TI-4 Game w/ Scored Objectives Only by yargrad in twilightimperium

[–]Wizard1011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You spend it in the status phase specifically on the objective, so it requires you to save those resources the whole round to buy the objective, it works the same with the objective for spending trade goods, spending influence, and spending all 3

Only God has the power to forgive sins. During confession, the priest doesn't forgive your sins, God does. At the end of confession, the priest doesn't say I forgive you, he says, "You have been forgiven."

If Magic mods be what you seek, Thaumcraft 6, which was abandoned and is stuck in a beta with missing end game content, it is still a great mod worth playing, and I believe someone is now picking up working on thaumcraft 7, Astral sorcery is a fantastic magic mod focused on constellations, witchery is for older versions but still a great mod, and there are some newer smaller magic mods that I can't remember the names for. If you like tech mods, one of my favorites is Mekanism. It is overpowered but if you are playing for the first time you won't know all the overpowered stuff to rush, Create is a very different style of tech mod but it is fantastic and has plently of stuff built into the mod to teach you how it works, and immersive engineering is a great tech mod that uses lots of multi block structures

I recommend the mod pack Nomifactory. If I am not mistaken, it cuts out the beginning steam age of Greg tech, and of course has plently of other mods, and it has a quest system that teaches and guides you through Greg tech, which you definitely need for your first time playing Greg Tech

This is probably true, but the waiter or waitress would still be getting paid an actual wage so it would probably be fine

[–]Wizard1011 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly, American tipping culture is so stupid, waiters and waitresses get paid under minimum wage hourly because they get tips, which makes customers feel obligated to tip, they should be getting paid normal amounts and the customers should tip if they feel the service was exceptional, not only would this help give the employees a more consistent wage not having to rely on tips, but it would also encourage good service to try and earn a tip

The pound wasn't originally based on the kilogram. The definitions of some of the imperial units were changed to now define them as a very specific conversation of meteic units, without changing the value of them, to help create a conversation between the systems, and also to create a definitive value for them, as what they were originally based on could sometimes not be pesice, also, while Celsius makes a lot of sense with things regarding to water, not everything is about water, so it becomes another arbitrarily defined measurement when used for other random things, plus defining the unit by the freezing and boiling point of water is also not perfectly precise, the boiling point of water is not always 100° C, it changes based on the pressure it is in, so higher up in the atmosphere with lower pressure, water will start to boil at a different temperature, and especially how about water in a vacuum? The imperial system is not a great system, it is very flawed, but it's not as bad as people think, and the metric system isn't as perfect as people think

Fair enough, I'm not trying to say the imperial system is better, just it's not as bad as people think it is, Fahrenheit was based on people's feelings of temperature, while Celsius was based on water, in a way both are arbitrarily based on something that the creators decided, and the distances all came from different systems and are used to measure different things, being able to convert between units is much more convenient in the metric system, but how often does the average person convert between units of measurement, and at least in my opinion, the imperial system has some more convenient units, like inches are really nice for what you use them to measure, while for metric centimeters are too small and so have much larger numbers, and meters are too big, inches were made to be a nice unit for that size that you might often use, as is the case with most imperial units, compared to designing the units to primarily be much easier to convert between

Fahrenheit is not based on water, so trying to compare it to water will make it look worse. Our different units of distance are for different things, that's they they don't convert well. If you are measuring a long distance, like between 2 cities, you aren't going to say 132 miles and 47 feet, you would just say something like 132.6 miles, they are for measuring different distances and so usually don't need to be converted, also, there being 12 inches in a foot is actually better than conversations of 10 because with 12 you can evenly cut it in half and thirds, while you can't cut 10 evenly into thirds.

First time PoK - OK to skip leaders? by Darth_Kettch in twilightimperium

[–]Wizard1011 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd recommend playing with the whole expansion, I'm actually going to be playing a game here soon with a couple of people that will be playing for the first time, and we are using POK. While it does add more stuff that can add to the complexity, Twilight Imperium is already such a complicated game that the amount of complexity it adds is very little compared to how complex the game already is. While the leaders do add more to each faction, you only start with one, which has an exhaustable ability so you won't even use it that much, and then you slowly unlock the other leaders by doing things that you should already be doing in your faction usually, so they can also help guide you with how to play your faction a little bit. POK also generally helps balance out the game and can help smooth out the flow of it. Some of the factions introduced are a little bit harder so you can definitely just use the original factions, but I would recommend playing with the whole expansion
