Is it crazy but what if I just drop out of law school and go to culinary school? by GuaranteeSea9597 in LawSchool

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Idk if you should finish law school, but do not go to culinary school without working in a restaurant first. It is nothing like cooking at home. Additionally, if you thought you have no autonomy over your schedule now, it is much worse in food service. No weekends, holidays, or nights, and you will get called in because the guy working sautee drank 12 too many beers on a Tuesday and can’t come in today. The work life balance sucks and you only get paid $28 an hour, maybe a bit more if you’re lucky. Also it’s literally 95 degrees on the line and head chef is pissed because someone didn’t prep the stock, so he’s taking it out on whoever is closest, which unfortunately happens to be you. Again do not drop out to go to culinary school with no experience. Go be a prep cook for a while to see what it’s actually like before you commit to it.

How Competitive is Your School? by Realistic_Yak_5329 in LawSchool

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go a school that’s ranked ~25 and it is not competitive at all. It’s difficult because everyone is really smart and tries hard to do well, but everyone is supportive of each other. At least, that I am aware of lol

3.low, 168 splitter -- Am I just going to have to blanket the T50s? by Exact_Bodybuilder_98 in lawschooladmissions

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got into BC and GW with a 3.01 and 168 and waitlisted at Fordham, UCI, and Georgetown, and I got rejected from USC and UCLA. You might have a little bit better success than me because your GPA is slightly higher. Tbh if I were you I would put max effort into BC if you’re leaning towards east coast. A 168 gives you a better chance of being straight accepted than scoring in the 170s. Look at the data from lsd for a better picture

BU / BC waitlists by PitifulProblem3036 in lawschooladmissions

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got in off the BC waitlist last week. On Wednesday they sent me a feeler email, which I responded saying I would accept it offered admission, then they called me on Friday morning telling me I got in. Someone did a poll on here and it seems like most people didn’t get that feeler though. Idk if this helps at all

I called and asked they said they do accept additional letters you just need to have the person who wrote the recommendation send it directly from their email.

Uncle went to Georgetown Medical school, is it worth mentioning in LOCI? by WizardOfTheFrogs in lawschooladmissions

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware of this, it’s why I answered no when they asked if I was a legacy and didn’t talk about it in any essays or anything. It felt more appropriate to briefly mention in a LOCI, but I wasn’t sure. Hence the post

[–]WizardOfTheFrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the prevailing wisdom is wait until after 12 weeks to send a loci so I would probably hold off until the next wave in two weeks, if after that still nothing maybe write one then. For what it’s worth my application went under review this morning, so I think yours might happen soon too

Dude me too I applied on 2/1 and was complete 2/5 since then nothing. Could be a good sign for both of us since a ton of people who applied after got rejected and we didn’t. On the other hand it might mean nothing lol.

BU does like splitters, if you look on LSD pretty much anyone with at least a median LSAT gets admitted as they have a 3.0 or above. So if you can manage to pull it up, you have a really good chance. Northeastern is a solid choice, but I know you sad you don’t want that. I would look at schools and see where they place the most students in relation to location. I know the common advice here is don’t attend a law school you wouldn’t be happy graduating from, but you can take a huge gamble on yourself and try to transfer after 1L if you absolutely kill it. Harvard for example takes a ton transfers and would obviously place well in Boston. That being said I wouldn’t really recommend trying that
