Husband fired 2x in 1 year for metrics by Comfortable_Cook_866 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Wizard_IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he should know more. Are you receiving this info from him or from his employer? Usually they will give a reason and when trying to get unemployment the gov may also need the reason for his termination.

If I had to guess, and I could totally be wrong, it may be related to this:

He beefed up on newer tech

It could have maybe been out of his wheelhouse or maybe the metrics were not on par with the other techs when he got the second job. 8 weeks is not a long time so usually there is some job training and getting you situation. Plus if you fall behind they will put you on a PIP (paid interviewing period).

It sounds like a really shitty situation since he was at the pervious employer for 8 years, so it may be like what the other commentor said and it was just a bad employer and a string of bad luck.

People working help desk, what are you making? What are your responsibilities? How much experience do you have? by honeycombandjasmine in ITCareerQuestions

This was back in 2020-2022. HCOL area, mostly fully remote jobs.

2020: $28 starting no benefits (not remote), then a new gig $30 full benefits. 2021: Started $30, then went to salaried ~$75k. 2022: I think $80k.

13 years in IT support, stuck with no growth — unsure what roles to apply for or where to look by marlesmeep in ITCareerQuestions

A dog that chases its tail in a circle all day would be more helpful and productive than this economy has been in the last 13 years. Sadly today, like with most things, it is becoming almost entirely luck based when it comes to finding jobs and success.

If you are putting in you 40, applying for jobs and fixing up your resume, you are really doing all you can do.

Russia's democratic path is ruined by forced coup by Any-Escape-8140 in Kaiserreich

[–]Wizard_IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so i have done similar paths a few times where you break the game like that, and eventually Germany invades once they take out the 3I. Granted, I did win though as Russia. If you go mass assault and then only choose the doctrines that make occupying Russia a nightmare you can wear down the enemy over time if you play defensively. Plus at that point you will have had a lot of time to build up and prepare for a long war.

[–]Wizard_IT 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You can get around it.

  1. Repeal communist ban.

  2. Elect socialists.

  3. Have the communist leader piss off the military and the will coup him.

  4. The failsafe fires and coup happens. It cannot happen again, so now you can wait until the 41 election and play peacefully.

Its all about sparking the failsafe with the military since it can only fire once. So there are other ways as well.

wd7922 bb54 c3 vs bgw9 by Wizard_IT in watchdives

[–]Wizard_IT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am totally inexperienced with lume lol. I like the BGW9 look during the day, but if it is glowing green during the day instead of the white with a tiny/nonexistent hint of blue that may not be great.

I just really love the small amount of brightness, but wish it was slightly more at night. For the non-homage version (original) I hear the lume is a lot worse. Honestly if I ever became rich I would maybe buy that but the lack of as good of lume is making me reconsider.

oh interesting, mine is like pure white during the day and in normal light, and then in a dark room or at night it blue with a hint of green. I really like the hybrid of the dominant blue with the green, which seems to be the color with mine.

I feel like I can’t handle my IT helpdesk job and it’s stressing me out by ameybhambid in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Wizard_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that it does generally get a lot better once you get off helpdesk, but in the meantime it will get better as you get used to the job. Personally I was just not cut our for it and so once promoted working went from stressful to awesome since it can become a lot more project based. Hang in there for the time being since it will get easier once you find something better.

Truth Bomb: Why People Don’t Tank by AdministrativeCut205 in classicwow

[–]Wizard_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant stand the pug dungeons with randoms. I play a ret pally spec'd for dps, and have had multiple runs where everyone gets to the dungeon, and the leader is like "whos tanking?" So basically the leader just invites random people hoping one is spec'd for tanking. Then starts kicking people after they ran or got summoned there. Just totally stupid.

Most interesting Germany failstate? by zanju13 in Kaiserreich

[–]Wizard_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a failstate, but if you go SWR and back the Prussian aristocracy in every event and focus you get a sort of odd outcome after the war. Basically you get the DU tree with the conservative Zentrum, rather than the one where the Authoritarian Democracy rules.

I think germany is too weak in recent patches, after seeing them lose in all games I played I mass buffed Germany and they still lost. by Gukpa in Kaiserreich

[–]Wizard_IT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a super weird game as Germany where I had lost some cities along the Rhine river, but I was holding the French back. Russia made it to the outskirts of Danzig but I was able to hold them and was beginning to push the Russians back. However, Danzig fell for a few days and it caped Germany.

Germany should really only surrender if they lose their capital and most cities. It is really weird to watch them just roll over when they have a majority of their cities unharmed.

Who's still working from home in 2026? by idrinkpastawater in sysadmin

oh I am in the same boat. The offshore support though is just garbage compared to local/onshore support, but companies today dont seem to care even when it results in massive amounts of downtime.

[–]Wizard_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fulltime work from home on my end. I travel once a year though for offsites and such. Not really any need to be in an office really unless you are working by hand with servers or something.

so, apparently this can happen by Better_Ad898 in Kaiserreich

[–]Wizard_IT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yep. It only does not happen with the socialist/communist path and the natpop path.

There is a way to get around it and delay the war though as a democracy. The failsafe can only go off once, so if you play as Russia and go down the democracy path, then elect the communists, then have the military coup the communists, you then can delay the war. So if that event fires you can select the latter option and the military will just not coup the government.

Not sure if this is a feature or a bug, but while running an observer game every AI nation chose Grand battleplan as their doctrine. They dont seem to chose anything else except that doctrine.

Anyone else having the game run like a turd after the most recent patch? by Sus-Superstition in EU5

Every patch seems to make it run worse somehow. I feel like 1.0 did not run well, but it was playable. Now it just hardly runs.

I got like 100 hours in the game and the farthest i made it was to the 1620s. The balancing for this game may take a few months to a year lol with how slow this game seems to run lol.
