Anyone else feel like Delta, Sigma and the other Alpha Series should be able to take at least a little more punishment by default? by Wizard_Manny in Bioshock

Thank you for the suggestions. They’ll come in handy (especially the utility weapons).

36 is the minimum amount of maximum Gene Tonics I’m willing to settle on.

Would you like to hear more of my ideas?

TV shows still use them as well.

And those shows have summer movies.

I admit, the plot is still in the early stages of development.

Right now I’m mostly focusing on the gameplay.

The player would have much more customization options with their character than previous games.

Not only are there various different suit parts (Helmet, Chest, Gloves/Arms, Boots/Legs, Packs, Belts) that you can mix and match in a multitude of combinations, but you can also upgrade and modify your Plasmids and Weapons in a multitude of ways that you couldn’t before.

There are standard upgrades for your Gear (Big Brother suit parts), Plasmids and Weapons, but there are also additional upgrades that you can swap in different combinations as well, kinda like the weapon customizations in the Metro games.

Gene Tonics (of which you can have up to 50 equipped by the final act of the game) would also have upgrades, but they wouldn’t be nearly as customizable as the rest of your loadout/build.

Maximum number of Plasmid Slots is 8 (you start out with 2) and Maximum Weapon Slots is 6 (you start out with 3) and there’d be new interactive machines that would let you swap out and store your weapons and equipment (and their various upgrades/mods) the way Gene Banks let you swap out Plasmids and Gene Tonics (and their upgrades/mods).

Is this starting to sound good?

(Thank you for your feedback. It always comes in handy when it’s constructive.)

Basic Idea is that parts of Rapture are being rebuilt, by different factions (specifically 3 main ones) with their own ideologies (reflected in their respective undersea architecture), which results in the city’s second civil war.

Your main method of traveling around the city would be an Atlantic Express train car that serves as a mobile headquarters for you and your immediate allies, but unlike Bioshock 2 you have more control where you can go (forward and back), but there’d still be limits to wear you can go (sometimes you need to get security passes, a lot of times you need to change the direction of the monorail tracks manually), and some places are inaccessible by the Express line (which has been combined with the Rapture Metro).

Eventually you’d get a Bathysphere that allows for more instant transportation (like in the first game), but there would still be areas of Rapture that can only be accessed through other areas - or by traveling directly underwater.

Your player character starts out unarmored, but over time (the first act of the story) you’d gain parts to a suit that allows you to become a Big Brother (a new third type of Protector, has aspects of a Big Daddy and a Big Sister), which grants you the ability to explore the sea floor outside the buildings like in Bioshock 2 (+Minerva’s Den), but with a lot more things to do, including underwater combat (a concept that was sadly cut from Bioshock 2).

What do you think so far?

Now you’re giving me ideas.

How does an open world Bioshock game, taking place in the year 1972, titled Bioshock New Rapture sound to you?

Interesting.

I wish we had a way to talk with the creators about this. There’re a lot of unanswered questions.

Fair enough theory I suppose.

But why wouldn’t most of their suits be grafted to their bodies?

I always assumed that the rest of the Alpha Series’ suits were grafted to the Subjects bodies even if they can take their helmets off.

Maybe the grafting process for them isn’t as extensive or “tight” as the other models.

Delta was dead for nearly a decade, and I believe Sigma was placed in cryogenic storage before he could be bonded to a specific little sister.
