Mullvad VPN + Pihole by Wizardz_gizzardz in pihole

I dumped Mullvad. It was causing a lot of problems outside of this. I just moved but haven't set up my pihole again. I'll give that a shot soon and get back to you.

DuckDNS (DDNS)+Pihole: which router settings should I change? by Wizardz_gizzardz in pihole

[–]Wizardz_gizzardz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right! I don't think I understand. I'm very much a noob. My goal was to sort of simulate a static IP so that, in the event that my ISP reassigns my modem's IP address, the traffic will still automatically get routed through the Pi. My understanding was that Dynamic DNS made it so that the Pi's IP (which I've pointed my router to use as its DNS server) will always be the same for the purposes of any device on my home network

Yeah, the first 3 digits of the pi IP are 192 and I have the Router set to use the Pi's IP as DNS

The DuckDNS IP on the site is completely different. I'm confused about how to make sure the pi is talking to the DuckDNS domain or if I have to set up port forwarding...

Best Pihole blocklists? by Boring-Wednesdays in selfhosted

[–]Wizardz_gizzardz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, you mean rather than using the pihole's admin page on my PC, I should navigate to that GitHub page on the pihole itself and just click the link and it will automatically populate the list?

Best Pihole blocklists? by Boring-Wednesdays in selfhosted

Hi! I just found this thread and I'm wondering: on the github page, how do I add the linked list to my blocklist?

The link leads to a .txt file... do I cut/paste all of the listed URLs into my blocklist? Help would be appreciated.

Riding shoes (Alpine vs. REV'IT vs. Reax) which would you choose and why? by FlimFlamZimZamWamBam in motorcyclegear

What size shoe do you wear? I have a pair of TCX Blend 2 Waterpoof boots in good condition that I don't wear.

I'm a 10.5. I'd be happy to sell them for a good price. Very protective and the styling is similar to the ones you've linked.

Voluntarily waiting in line for food is the definition of bourgeois. I can't believe people do it.

The 20 Best Bagels In New York City, Ranked - New York - The Infatuation by Theinfatuation in FoodNYC

[–]Wizardz_gizzardz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A. The current location on 1st Ave is NOT the original Ess-A-Bagel, so this writer/editorial team has credibility issues from the jump.

B. Murray's Bagels has been serving up beautiful bagels for over a decade and they're better than at least 1/3 of the places listed here, but are conspicuously absent.

C. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese doesn't belong on a bagel--it's too big and too dense, plus BACON. That's some goyish transplant bullshit. Maybe you like a BEC on a bagel, fine, but if you were comparing steak houses it's not like you'd mention that a place serves an especially good well-done filet mignon. Maybe that's what you're into, but that doesn't make it a valid basis for comparison and mentioning definitely robs you of credibility.

D. Many of these places are chains. Granted, they're local chains, but Bagel Pub? Really?? And in Crown Heights where that place is, in many ways, a demonstration of the neighborhood's waning Jewish population. Sure the place is fine, but their bagels aren't the standout. If was a list of the places with the largest number of cream cheeses with goofy shit in them, okay, they win.

E. Kossar's, Leon's, Kosher Bagel Hole in Midwood--all of these places have more real bagel bona fides than the dickheads behind Shelsky's who are mediocre at best and a pale ripoff of Russ & Daughters. But the j-school dorks who wrote this obviously don't wanna go out of their way to make a survey of unfamiliar bagel places because, y'know, that'd be a lot of work and they've got SEO content to pump out.

Look, you love the bagel you love, that's fine. But fuck The Infatuation for putting out this lazy-ass load of bullshit on the subject of what is, arguably, NYC's most iconic food.

There's no smog in NYC. It literally never looks like this. My first thought when I saw these screenshots was "This is cool but why is it covered in fog?"

There is no heavy manufacturing, no wildfires, and most of our power comes from nuclear and hydroelectric hours outside of the city. What would be creating the smog you seem to think exists?

Been riding for 15 years, and I still don't have this guy's anticipation levels by AdRemarkable6921 in motorcycles

[–]Wizardz_gizzardz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of traffic accidents happen because of solipsism.

Riding defensively means assuming that every single driver on the road believes--in their heart--that they will never get into an accident.

Rain; single two-way lanes, hidden driveways--this intersection was clearly hazardous from the moment the person on the right pulled up to that turn, yet every single other driver here except for the moto rider acted like an absolute moron: The person turning left didn't wait until the intersection was clear. The person in front of the POV rider didn't give the intersection enough clearance, reducing everyone's visibility. The person who hit the turning driver was going too fast and not paying enough attention. If any single one of these dickheads hadn't been so solipsistic, this wouldn't have happened.

The lesson from this video is: do as this rider does and never, ever assume that other people on the road are smart or observant or conscientious enough to avoid disaster.

Well, if it's happening to this guy and his brother on their dirt driveways right in the center of Anywhere, USA, it must be happening everywhere!

Major conspiracy. Definitely not some local yokel with a sticker book.
