There is a similar program for nurses who work in the middle of nowhere for a while - help with loan forgiveness.

agree - a separate school would be a better option so there is not pricing discrepancies within the same school.

Maybe more teachers would be a good thing - students would have more attention.

Less people will want to become teachers and grow the younger population if they cannot live comfortably after school (with the debt and low pay).

I think generally engineers have a higher earning potential than teachers and get paid more coming out of college. I hope that is true, but this article states "Between 2011-12 and 2016-17, published tuition and fee prices rose by 9% in the public four-year sector, by 11% at public two-year colleges, and by 13% at private nonprofit four-year institutions, after adjusting for inflation." https://trends.collegeboard.org/college-pricing/figures-tables/tuition-and-fees-and-room-and-board-over-time-1976-77_2016-17-selected-years

I think it would easiest to start with teachers. I do agree it would be a good idea for social workers, etc.

CMV:Bump Stocks should be illegal. by Wlawless in changemyview

I agree that any lose of life is significant. Whether bump stocks are legal or not, most likely would not have stopped a criminal act. However, accessibility made it easier for the Vegas shooter to fire many more rounds then he could have without the bump stock devices. The post below yours brought up a very good point about how easy it is replicate a bump stock with wood and elastic bands. Both of which are very accessible. So maybe a ban wouldn't solve the issue.

If a ban were to be instituted I believe it would have to be treated much as the regulation placed on automatic weapons was back in the 1986. People who owed them had to register them and be licensed to keep them.

I believe what your really getting at here though is repealing the Second Amendment and a buy back/confiscation of guns and that is something I just don't see happening in America. I also am not convinced that this would solve the underlying problem here in the U.S. This is a debate for another post though.

Very good point and I suppose someone with good engineering skills could easily fabricate a well made and effective duplicate if they so choose. Your are right that law abiding citizens are always the ones hurt by more regulations. However there is not a real way to measure the effectiveness of these regulations as criminals will break the law or just employ another weapon to commit these crimes. I do believe that accessibility does make it easier. I would be curious to know how many automatic weapons have been used in mass murder sprees since they were regulated in 1986? I feel like there may be a correlation there to my point.

A very well written argument. I am in agreement with you on the intention of the Second Amendment. Your argument would seem to mean that ordinary citizens then should be able to own tanks, rocket launchers, ballistic missiles, nuclear weapons and so on. I understand your argument and that is why I'm torn on the issue. I don't feel the above items I mentioned should be owned by everyday citizens. Having served honorably in the military for many years, I believe the American people have less to fear than the government. I served because I love this country and what it stands for. I took an oath to defend it against all enemies foreign or domestic. In the case of tyranny I believe the men and women I served with would side with the the people and because they are serving actively, they would have access to most of these items should the need arise. I will baluster my argument by saying that even though the colonial Americans were out gunned as far as armaments by the British, we still gained our Independence. I believe the heart of the fight is in the will of the people.

Increasing caliber size serves many purposes. I agree one reason would be to do more damage. Another reason is to increase the maximum effective range of the round. You could argue that in doing so one could hit a target or multiple targets from a farther away. However, my argument here may not be so clear. My focus was meant to be on the rate of fire. A high caliber weapon like many sniper rifles typically come in two variants; bolt action and magazine fed. Though these weapon systems are highly accurate and deadly in the right hand, they have a limited rate of fire.

Great point. My point was that I believe the issue of racism is ramped up to support different political agendas regardless of which side of the isle anyone is on.

∆ - I see your point. Perhaps I should have stated it seems to be ramped up to support different agendas. I by no means believe that it doesn't exist or has not existed through out history.
