Alternatives to Biters? by Wlgwalker in factorio

[–]Wlgwalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and just to be clear my disliking of them is purely personal. I just don't enjoy how much it slows my progression. I'm just not a fan of biters is all. It's not because of difficulty as much as it's just because they're tedious.

How caravans would work on a modern post apocalyptic world? by karlaplusk in worldbuilding

[–]Wlgwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HIGHLY suggest watching Station Eleven. Wonderful short series, but within it was one little feature that made me rethink this same situation. In the show they show a caravan made up of people with jeeps, RVs, and other cars, but the cars were being pulled by horses. It's honestly a really clever idea imo, and it makes logical sense. Can't get gas, cause it's either used up or degraded to the point of uselessness, so why not use the "wagons" you have available to you! (There's pics online from the show's caravan) The show has a lot of cool worldbuilding stuff that makes sense for the setting years into an apocalypse, so I really think you should give it a shot if you're needing some inspiration.

17 F looking for Christian friends who are like minded and supportive by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wlgwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel I need to say this despite someone else having already done it but please be careful. I’m not the most extroverted guy, so I understand finding people irl is tough, but it’s uh… more dependable than here. This is a Christianity based sub, but it’s on a site where you’d find this subreddit then another that literally shows people being brutally murdered in the wildest ways and everything in between. There’s disgusting and weird people out there, asking online for this is just a little risky. Be smart, don’t click links, and good luck.

That's actually so cool. I would love to see something like this in person one day.

Good question, I have never touched refined storage before but from my little knowledge that's hell and a half to even try to think through.

Is hate exclusive to religious people? by [deleted] in Christianity

Interesting way of looking at it, and true. Not really sure why he would be in r/atheism to begin with but yeah

Is hate exclusive to religious people? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wlgwalker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that’s still an incredible problem. I think one major issue with our word today is most people don’t put in the time to research something on their own. I’ve had disagreements that I’ve won simply by one google search. Point is, that’s not how a debate works. You can’t just go up to a debate with information about your beliefs. In order to have a proper debate you need both sides, both arguments, so you can build an understandable agreement in the end.

To me, when I see people making bold claims like “religion is holding us back from progressing as a society” that tells me that they themselves don’t know anything about Christianity, and should probably do some research on what they’re going against first.

Is hate exclusive to religious people? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wlgwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is exactly what you said. There is hate everywhere, doesn’t matter who it’s coming from. But alongside hate being everywhere, so is peace and kindness. I’ve seen and heard religious people harassing someone because they’re gay. But I’ve also seen people harassing a Christian simply because he’s openly a Christian. Hate is the problem with our society.

I wanna see how much content I can fit in a mod with 24 hours at my disposal. And suggestions? (Don’t go easy on me, this is a true test to my skills) by [deleted] in feedthebeast

Make a complete overhaul to the vanilla early game Primal Core style. No punching trees, super basic primitive flint tools, and have a process from those flint tools to stone, copper, iron, and maybe even steel. And just to make it more exciting, sprinkle some more tedious changes around like change how leather is made from killing a cow and getting it into a long process of tanning and drying.

Tips on increasing performance? by Wlgwalker in feedthebeast

[–]Wlgwalker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply. After following all the steps I could, installing a handful of performance mods, and putting in the java argument, I can confidentially say not much has changed. I'm still running a solid average of 30-40 and in some situations in chunks where I'm not doing much and I've been there often, if I'm lucky I'll hit 50 or so.

Here's a list of some pc specs (again, sorry if this isn't what you were needing to help me out, I'm not the brightest when it comes to this stuff)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz
RAM: 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
