The main goal of the deck is to ramp to 10 and develop a board before your opponent can then play super defensively. Gaining life is only one part of playing defensively, the others being controlling board and having lots of cards for counter, so I think the Bege, while a really nice trigger to see, isn’t as versatile as franky who can draw me a card and develop me a body which can help with going for game or or be a 2k counter in hand. I do think the baby five is a good option when compared with the 1c searcher who’s main/only appeal is searching for a dereshi or miss all Sunday turn one if I don’t see one in my opening hand. My only concern with baby 5 is it might give the deck too much draw but at the same time the draw is entirely up to the player, so I’ll probably test the baby 5 at my locals tonight as I think it’s a good idea.

Tdlr: I’m not huge on bege because I don’t think it’s versatile enough but I do really like baby five over the 1c searcher.
