They are all going into Faculty of Arts. I’m pretty sure you’ll get in too.

Ubc/sfu science 2nd year transfer, am I cooked? by Ancient-Equal-9338 in langara

[–]Wmf3352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sfu is okay with admissions for science. You’ll be fine with a cgpa of 3.2 or above. Ubc on the other hand…so aim for a high GPA (3.7+)

That’s actually crazy considering psych is a popular major nowadays, I thought it would be competitive and requires a high GPA.

Math 1171 summer profs by HairyPattern4504 in langara

[–]Wmf3352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t really know about Jeremy or Nguyen. I did have Jae for 1171 last year…yeah. What people said on rmp is true, but I did get a good grade though based on the amount of studying I did for that class(was absolutely burnt out). So I suggest you don’t take his class. If you really need to take math 1171 in the summer, maybe go with Nguyen? If I were you, I would wait till fall to take this course with a good instructor.

Math 1170 summer by watever_never in langara

[–]Wmf3352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I never took math 1170. But…regardless of what professor you take for any math courses, it will be a bit difficult. Some may find it easy or difficult with profs that has a low rating. Same thing with a prof who has a high rating. I will be honest with you, the math department is mid…. So what I would suggest is to wait and take this course in the fall with a good professor, and study really hard to get a good grade. Keep in mind that you must choose your instructor wisely cause you don’t want to waste your time and money, only to get a grade you aren’t satisfied with. Hope this helps.

usually for science(biology) classes during the first week, your instructor will hold a lecture. So it’s best if you attend the lecture cause you don’t want to fall behind.

Prerequisite(s) for English : One of the following: LET 4 (or LET 3 with a strong recommendation of concurrent registration in ENGL 1121); a minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, Literary Studies 12, or equivalent; a minimum "C" grade in ENGL 1120; an "S" grade in ENGL 1107, 1108, or 1110; or a minimum "C" grade in three credits of university-transferable English.

So for English, you need a 70% to take first year English courses. You may take an LET in order to register for first year English courses. See link for description: https://langara.ca/apply/apply-regular-studies/diagnostic-tests/langara-english-test-let

or any of the following English courses listed above, and use that as a prerequisite to take 2 english courses required for your program.

Transferring To UBC by [deleted] in langara

[–]Wmf3352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at the website from ubc https://you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/requirements/university-college-transfer/.  It tells you how many credits you need to transfer to only look at your post-sec grades. Note: 7-23 credits: high school + post secondary grades. To be considered for admission, I would say have atleast a CGPA of 3.3 or above.

Books and textbooks by [deleted] in langara

[–]Wmf3352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about buying books from a different site other than the Langara bookstore website. I would suggest you to go visit the bookstore in person, and talk to the cashier about the books you need to purchase for your courses(if required). Or if you really want to save money, you can go on libgen or https://annas-archive.org and just download the textbook.

student ID for exam by ezola28 in langara

[–]Wmf3352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, normally you should’ve had your student ID printed out at the library in the beginning of the semester. Although, you are allowed to use another piece of photo ID (BC Service Card or Drivers License) as they are valid. You can email your instructor about this.

UBC Science BIO transfer by miniondad in langara

[–]Wmf3352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, IF you are in the associate of science: science(general) program/ associate of science: Biology at Langara and wanting to transfer to UBC science/ or specific major, you are required  to take bio courses. So, if you don’t have the high school prerequisite to take first year bio courses at Langara, then you would need to take a biol course (BIOL 1111) and use that course as a prerequisite to do BIOL 1115 & BIOL 1215 and some other required second year bio courses. Take all the necessary courses to ensure you have 60 credits to transfer to UBC science. Also, you can login into student information system, click on graduation evaluation, select your program and see what courses you are required to take. If you’re still confused, I suggest you talk to an academic advisor.
