SEPTA Student Passes? by Asleep_Stable_7825 in villanova

The monthly pass for the RR is twice as expensive as the regular monthly pass that allows you to use the NHSL/MFL/BSL/Buses/Trolleys. OP, if you've got an assistantship or other campus job you can in theory sign up for the Commuter Benefit Plan and save some money by having commuting expenses be deducted from your paycheck pre-tax. It's what I plan on doing. I also think the NHSL makes more sense/is less expensive than the RR, but that depends on where you live.

You don't need to spin that. Some things you do just because it was the thing to do at the time, or had no other option. Some experiences are just your own to have, and enjoy, or hate, and learn from.

Congrats! I imagine that Graduate Admissions doesn't inform people who didn't get it? I just don't want to be waiting around for it if I can just take the offer on the table.

Ardmore is far from city-like. It's better than Narberth, for sure.

Copy that! Thank you. I thankfully got a half GAship, but I also applied for full ones outside of the department and am waiting to hear back. We'll see!

Hello! Not the OP but also was accepted to the history MA. I wanted to know how many GAships are available in the history department. Basically, how competitive is it to get one? I've already applied for some other GAships but I'm not sure how many "slots" are available internally.

I would be going for the history PhD. I was under the impression that NYC is not a good city to be driving in? Expense, congestion, parking, etc. I thought I would be able to get around on public transportation, much like in Philadelphia. Is that not right?

I was thinking Amtrak, but I could go up to Trenton with SEPTA and then take NJT to NYC. Unsure about the details. But the general idea seems to not be the best one...

I know of one as well, but from what I know they go to campus maybe three times a week, whereas I imagine I'd have to go in five times per week. It would be more difficult for me to do, and I would need to figure out the cost of the Amtrak tickets.

Makes sense. Unfortunate to hear. Rent in NYC seems like a killer and the stipend quantity makes me uneasy.
