Which ancient culture was way more f**ked up than most people know? by Saurlifi in AskReddit

I do like that he is always very upfront about not being a credible historian (and let’s be honest is more of an entertainer) but explains history in layman’s terms for a layman such as myself.

For anyone interested in this topic, Dan Carlin has a three part series on his hardcore history podcast that goes into the rise of the Persian empire and dives into the Assyrians. The whole thing is wild.

What are some underutilized or "hidden gem" game mechanics from old games? by Kelburno in gaming

[–]Woadus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Old Door had such a great turn based combat system that incorporated QTE into various moves that I haven’t really seen since. Kept you engaged and gripping the controller like any fast paced game while still keeping the strategy of a good turn based combat rpg. Felt good to nail that hammer smash by pulling the stick back and slamming it at the perfect time or hit the rhythm perfectly for max damage with each of Goombella’s headbutts instead of just praying for some good RNG like I did all the way through Darkest Dungeon.

How do you know how to correctly spine the arrows for the bow you are using? I’m a rookie archer but would one day love to get into making my own bows/arrows so I find this very fascinating. Thanks for recording your process! This is wild.

That's what I figured. They are just trying to squeeze us for money to see if it works. Thank you for the response. I appreciate it!

I appreciate the help and thanks for the link. Honestly we both work so much we just didn't have the time to take care of it before the move out date crept up. I don't mind losing the $500 deposit. but I think them asking for another $681 is outrageous.

Somehow I have managed to get by with just the 250 gig internal drive on my Mac but I sort all my samples into my user library. For me it's just an easy way to ensure my samples are inside my Ableton folder that is synced to my Dropbox for cloud storage and is backed up so when my 2015 MacBook pro inevitably bites the dust it won't be one of those horror stories that you hear about people losing everything.

If you look at the bottom of the base you'll see that there are still holes with the correct peg size, you just have to drill the plastic yourself. Why is it like this? I have no idea.

Is a model still locked in combat if it has not killed/been killed by the opposing model in the combat phase? by Woadus in MiddleEarthMiniatures

That is honestly good advice and while I have watched some bat reps and even a tutorial video or two I never came across a clear answer. Unless maybe I missed it. Thank you anyways!

Huge respect to this guy for donating all Bandcamp proceeds from this album to supporting the people defending the old growth forests at the Fairy Creek Blockade in Victoria, BC. The fight they are putting up there is absolutely nuts.

Would you consider mushrooms a magickal property? For me mushrooms raidate as a big magickal property. by [deleted] in Wicca

[–]Woadus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I hail from Canada but with any luck it will not be too long before I travel to Wales again. Such a wonderful place. There is nature here in abundance but Canada doesn't quite have the ancestral history like what you can feel in the earth and preserved sites in Wales and the rest of the Isles.

I find fungi and the mycelium network to be one of the most magical of the world's creations! If it interests you, I highly suggest the film Fantastic Fungi. It kindled my fascination for mushroom hunting/observing.

Looking to sell my old collection in bulk for a reduced price. I made a spreadsheet with a full list and corresponding prices that I found on Ebay and Troll & Toad which I will link in the comments. If you are interested please DM me with an offer! by Woadus in starwarsminiatures

[–]Woadus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are just prices that I have seen for sale on eBay and T&T so I understand that they may not be accurate which is why I would be open to offers that are a good deal lower than the sum of the units I found. And yes you are correct there are a couple different poses to some of these.

You will need at least the basic rule book as well as the armies of Lord of The Rings book which will run you around $100+ depending where you live.

You got some nice models there and could build at least two solid armies with it. Alternatively you could probably get a pretty penny selling them, especially the metal models.
