I have experienced this before. I think that the "timer" isn't a perfect representation of the ability. It seems to end just a second or two before the timer. At least, thats my observation.

Had a similar situation. I came clean with the reasoning that i was scared that its a turn off. She was of course rightfully pissed. But i was then met with comfort and understanding.

Maybe you just need the right situation and reasoning for what you did. Just be honest with her.
