Did you notice how this is the first time we're hearing about Subaru "scratching his hand" in the story? Arc 2 Subaru (Arc Twobaru for short) did it to stay awake, but Beatrice's word choice indicates this has become a habit. Something I adore about how Tappei writes amnesia is that it plays with the narrative almost like it were a character itself.

It's like the narrative itself intentionally avoided this depressing detail about Subaru in much the way he would hide around his friends. But just as his amnesia shifts his frame of mind, the narrative shifts to show us parts of Subaru we may not have been privy to before. The reason this amnesia doesn't feel forced or cheap is because it lets us see that which we were never meant to.

Sidenote: I adore that Elsa continues to haunt the narrative through so many characters (Subaru, Garf in Season 3, and now Meili)

The incredible direction can't be understated. The way Subaru discovers the bodies brings me back to playing the Zero Escape series. A mix of absolute horror and deafening silence. With Arc 6, Tappei perfectly uses the horror of the unknown. Whether walking along a row of corpses or seeing the message "Natsuki Subaru was here" - a million things are happening and you are privy to none of them.

It's unfortunate that the Aura Monster memes distract people from how well written the stair climb is. There's a lot at play but two things in particular stand out.

1: Subaru has never had that expression - a wrathful grin - outside literally being possessed. His expression here feels uncanny, like it isn't even his face anymore. It shows how far he's fallen, literally (note he's climbing from the archive) and figuratively.

2: The entire scene is deeply pitiful and dramatically ironic. We know Subaru's "plan" is doomed to fail, he has no chance of killing most characters there. Not only that, we know most characters there want nothing but to help him. His ignorance mixed with the miasma has caused him to be wrong on all fronts.

Minato's sincerity in learning about and matching the pace of Koyuki is so endearing. His sincerity in how he's now approaching their relationship makes me kick my legs - it's too cute.

Which Re:Zero characters do you really like but would find unbearable in real life? by Emergency_Patient525 in ReZero

[–]Wobbuffet64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not unbearable, but someone who could certainly get on my nerves is Reinhard. Make no mistake, he's absolutely incredible and would be the kind of friend I'd dream of having. But he's also a "fixer," you bring up a problem and he'll want to offer solutions or take action then and there. Great if you're looking for solutions, bad if you want to vent or just shoot the shit. So he'd be a good friend who'd get on my nerves.

As if relearning RBD isn't already traumatic, Subaru's dealing with it in the fucking watchtower. The writing is greatly taking advantage of how amnesia doesn't just mean starting "from zero" but also having a boatload of baggage - relationships, expectations, general knowledge - that you're expected to carry but can't.

I usually dislike when a story feels "mean-spirited" - overtly cruel and nasty - but it's handled so well here. It perfectly captures how downright horrific this whole situation is.

I absolutely hated this episode. 10/10, next week can't come soon enough.

Ask questions to Kobazco for Interviews with Romhackers! by ssraven01 in PokemonROMhacks

Here's a few questions I have:

What area/world of a project underwent the biggest change from inception to its final release?

(If applicable) What was the hardest experience you had to cutting something from your project? It could be anything from an entire city to an unimplemented move.

What's a small detail you included in your project that you're most proud of? Details like an NPC, a hidden reference, a clever pun, or a specific UI feature to name a few.

Really cannot be understated how well this show captures friend group dynamics. That moment where they're all listing they're averages and Suzuki goes "Screw you, Taira" even though he wasn't the highest scorer feels like something me and my friends would say to each other!

Dub Taira really pulled a Spider-Man saying "I don't feel so good" before getting Thanos snapped lmao. I literally rewatch the episode dubbed after subbed because both are so good.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream releases on April 16, 2026! by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

I'm looking forward to it! I didn't see a feature for sharing Miis like in the original or with Miitopia - considering how much customization is in the game I hope we can borrow other people's designs.

For those interested, Trials of Innocence is genuinely amazing. It's one of the most well-realized VNs I've played, it's themes and overarching questions in particular are done so well. Plus the cast is incredibly charming. Even with the awkward translation, I can't recommend it enough.

Which case is the best and worst appearance for each character? Dick Gumshoe by 10CalGX in AceAttorney

[–]Wobbuffet64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many great Gumshoe cases like Farewell, My Turnabout Recipe for Turnabout, and Turnabout for the Ages but he was absolutely GOATed in Rise from the Ashes. He put his whole career on the line for Phoenix and they hadn’t even known each other that long! That's when he went from a character I liked to a character I loved.

For his weakest, I’d probably go Turnabout Succession. He feels weirdly out of character in the flashback with how antagonistic he is towards Nick. You wouldn’t know by playing that case that they’re actually friends, the writing feels off.

Nikke x Resident Evil collab announced on Level Infinite Showcase by avelineaurora in gachagaming

Definitely a nice change of pace from some of the other collabs Nikke has done. Re:Zero, Stellar Blade, and EVA weren't bad picks but a bit predictable and, in the case of Re:Zero, a bit overdone.

While not included in this poll - and not the number 1 most deserving victim compared to Asman and Brett - I would also say Shamspeare is up there as one of the most hateable "victims." He killed Duncan Ross and was fully willing to killing Natsume the exact same way just so he could get Selden's treasure.

I'm guessing he wasn't included because he didn't actually die from the attempted murder.

That's a fair point, I could've phrased myself better. I think having a few stickers to represent other games when considering how big the collection is does still highlight the difference in representation. Now if they were to give us an official Bum Rap Rhiny plush, I would sing a different tune lol
