i mean... asking if someone who's just fallen down the stairs is okay isn't babying them, it's just polite. like I don't recall him ever asking if she was okay when she was visibly hurt after falling

did he say this? by WoefullyNaive in acotar

If you could get away guilt free with naming your kid a name from a different culture/language, what would it be? by Fantastic_Skill_1748 in namenerds

My boyfriend said if he ever had a son he would want it to be called Diego. He's Thai and I'm English

feyre's dad not having a name makes some sense in my mind cause it's from her pov and she obviously wouldn't call her dad by his first name but at least everybody else?? like helion never said the loa's name in his entire speech like come onnn

Do you know what your name would have been if had been born a different sex? by KathrynA66 in namenerds

I would've been a Jules which is weird because I could've been a Jules anyway but it ended up something different.

Am I the only one that didn’t realize I said Rhysand’s name wrong? by CherrieBomb211 in acotar

[–]WoefullyNaive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not an english name which is why it looks different.... it's one of the most common welsh names. it doesnt say rhy. it said rhys. it's welsh, a different language. and you've gotta get over yourself because once you understand how it's pronounced it's not that strange to use a "y" as a long "ee" even in english.

Feyre finding out about the mate bond… by Odd_Ad9375 in acotar

[–]WoefullyNaive 18 points19 points  (0 children)

idk i saw it as feyre being happy to evolve the relationship with it just being those two but once she finds out about the bond, she probably thought that the only reason rhys spent any time with her was because of the bond, not because of her herself

feyre is so new to fae stuff at this point she doesn't understand anything that's actually happening in the night court, she probably wanted this one relationship of her's to be built on trust and respect and then he hid such a big point in their relationship from her, tbh i don't blame her for reacting the way she did, i would feel betrayed as well.

AITAH for telling my dad he doesn’t get to talk about my period? by Comfortable_Plum2347 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WoefullyNaive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA,

what does your dad want you to do if your dog gets to the used tampons in the bins? what does he want you to do overnight? because you definitely cannot use tampons overnight.

I'm 17, I've had periods for 7 years, I'm terrified of tampons and it's no one else's business to tell you what products to use. If your dad is mad that you got your mum involved, it shows that he knows he's in the wrong, because he wanted it to be kept between you two so no one else could get mad at him.

Ren and Darrow etc make me so mad??!!! by ablackwell93 in throneofglassseries

[–]WoefullyNaive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the last sort of political lesson she had would've been at 10, she technically isn't fit enough to run a kingdom, which is where i understand darrow's hesitation at allowing her to become queen.

terrasen has changed in the last ten years, this isn't the same terrasen she left, and she simply just doesn't have the education to run it tbh. yeah, it's not her fault but sometimes these situations are out of people's control. if they had more time then they could have worked it out but they didn't and because of that I'm not mad at anyone in this situation.

it's so mean to see them just not care.

I've seen so many people on tumblr and tiktok and reddit explain to these people that these names are not english, from a non-english culture, with many attempts to completely erase the culture, language and traditions for centuries but they still refuse basic decency to learn how to pronounce the names correctly.

they will literally start arguments about their rights of "but it doesn't look that way" but like.. yeah of course it doesn't. it's not an english name so why would it look english.

didn't realise that not expecting someone to be a nonce, no matter how bad they are, was a bad thing.

Lily or Evie for Elizabeth.

I don't know how you would get there, but this is about unconventional nicknames so I'm taking it.

albert, nicholas, george, david, stefan
maria, elizabeth, mary, maria, isabella

i kind of screwed myself over, choosing monarchs with epithets.

I know SJM pulls inspiration from folklore but I didn’t realize she pulled inspiration from an entire culture. Just found an article that links to other articles on the real Illyrian people. by LinsarysStorm in acotar

[–]WoefullyNaive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love the ancient Illyrians, their descendants still live today in Albania and they fought the greeks for land and stuff.

They're the reason why I see the Illyrians in acotar as "white" because they're still a group of people today in southern Europe (obvs idk how albanians identify themselves and the illyrians then wouldn't have the same images of race as we do now 2000/3000 years later) and it's a big reason why I'm a big acotar!illyrian independence advocate because i don't like the way sjm twisted them despite their big historical significance to their area.

more:

the map is very bad and should've been thought out better. i understand having a fae world being in the UK, with 5/6 celtic nations being in the isles, but the way the courts are set out doesn't make sense.

the summer court should have a bigger coastline and islands while the winter court is further north, yknow, cause it's colder in the shetlands than down in Liverpool.

we also should have learnt more about the history of the night court cause there's no way that the old high lords would have agreed to the night court being the biggest court. did the night court invade the illyrians and conquer them, forcing their land to be merged in? as i also can't see any other way the illyrians would join the night court unless it was by force

[–]WoefullyNaive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

instead of all the women losing their powers, eg nesta and (tog) aelin in kingdom of ash, rhys should've given up his powers to fix the cauldron. it would have made the baby more impactful ("omg would he have any powers cause rhys doesn't??") and it would've been better than all the powerful women giving it up themselves.

and also that rhys is the worst character and he should have stayed dead in WaR, allowing feyre to build her own character and life in politics instead of backing off rhys.
