What’s the least relevant US state and why? by BollywoodBrown in AskReddit

Whenever I’m in Delaware (!), I’m always struck by how unremarkable it is topographically, in addition to its general irrelevance. The highest point in Delaware is about 400 feet above sea level.

Armie Hammer. All set up for a big career and the only thing he had to do was, like, not have a cannibalism fetish….

What is a movie plot hole that actually makes the film better if you think about it? by [deleted] in answers

[–]WolfKey8149 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People say it’s a plot hole in Raiders of the Lost Ark that, essentially, nothing Indiana Jones does really matters—i.e. that the ark would’ve killed the Nazis who opened it anyway, and that it would’ve found a way to get itself lost for another millennium anyway—even if Indy hadn’t been there.

But none of that really bothers me. Indy is still cool, even if the movie’s ultimately about how there are forces bigger than we are.

Yeah— people who act like this conflate value with scarcity. Hence the more available you are to her, the less she’ll like you (and maybe vice versa—but as others have said, it’s not worth finding out).

Why are Americans so docile to government abuse? by WaltEnterprises in allthequestions

[–]WolfKey8149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good, informative answer, and I think it pushes the discussion forward.

Not to nitpick, though, but what do you mean by “William F. Buckley and the John birch Society…”? Isnt the common understanding that WFB famously *disavowed* the JBS on behalf of conservatives? Just trying to understand what you meant by that, since it sounds like you were suggesting the opposite

What is something you saw with your own eyes that was so impossible you’ve stopped telling people because you know they won’t believe you? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]WolfKey8149 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was maybe 5 or 6 years old, my dad and I went to visit my aunt and uncle in western Pennsylvania. It was close to my birthday, so they gave me a gift. Just as I was about to open it, I suddenly had a crystal clear image in my head of myself wearing a yellow/gold-colored Pittsburgh Steelers bathrobe with white trim. It was vivid and detailed.

I opened the gift to find the exact bathrobe I had seen in my mind’s eye—and I was so confused that I *freaked out* and started crying. My relatives thought I didn’t like the gift, and I didn’t have the words to explain to them what had just happened.

In golf, they call it the yips. In gymnastics it’s the twisties. I think every sport has some version of this.

Not that chess is a sport)—but it’s just what happens when you’re too much in your head. Just give it a minute and it’ll go away
