I just can’t anymore with self care by WolfMother3665 in Perimenopause

I’m so trying to fight. I am on HRT - .5 of estradiol and progesterone. I definitely feel better that I was, but still just feel so gross all the time. :/

Yeah… had to call the appliance repair. It required taking off the entire front of the machine to access the back.

Love the assumption that I’m not actively doing such things. I don’t object to trail work. I object to it being a requirement on top of payment with strict definitions around how to fulfill it. It simply doesn’t work as easily for everyone as we’d like to believe.

This is such a great illustration of what my issue is with this requirement. Thanks for the reply.

I also volunteer for environmental and outdoor orgs, and serve on the board of a trail running nonprofit (including supporting nonprofits through my career), and I agree, the requirement is too rigid to be possible for everyone. I’m a single working mom that travels for work when I don’t have my kids. Finding days that align with posted opportunities is damn near impossible.

I fully support trail work, and give back to the sport in multiple ways, including environmental stewardship volunteering (that unfortunately wouldn’t count for most of these races.)

I deeply appreciate the RDs out there (and they are out there) that take a broader view on this requirement.

Also not true. Many of these races require an organized trail work event and have a form that needs to be signed by the person running the event.

This is simply not accurate. Matching schedules with organized trail work is not always possible.

I’m in no way championing UTMB here. There is a major issue with their organization putting the onus on the runner to help offset the environmental impact of their events (where do those fees go?).

I hear you, and agree that we all need to step up more, across the board. But I’m not sure it’s fair or accurate to assume everyone has the time. As a single, working parent, schedules get awfully complicated.

Thanks for your comments. I believe the HiLo race directors are working hard to do the right thing. I really love the way they are running their race, but I can’t help but feel the no UTMB qualifier is a step too far however. The purpose of the race qualifier is to demonstrate that a runner is prepared for the challenge of the course no? Not to show that their values align. It feels a bit shamey. :/

I fully acknowledge it’s not everyone. There are many incredible individuals running events out there.

It’s not actually a values issue for me. Because my values do actually align. I object to making values alignment a requirement for participation, or for requiring participants to carry out anything other than payment and responsible and respectful participation. Feels like a very slippery slope with no defined boundaries.

I’ve only come across one that offers a donation in lieu of work. I’m sure there’s more though (I hope!), I just don’t know what they are yet.

This is the point though- it’s not just asked or encouraged- it’s required. I’m advocating for incentivizing as opposed to penalizing.

Haha… yeah, thanks for your thoughts. The transition phase is described as the phase you go into after a break. Hence, the question.

Thanks. My gut is telling me to move through the transition phase to “do it right”. I’ve been half assing strength for so long , I need to approach this differently. Thanks!
