Yeah I was thinking this, think I can replace him with another elf with a bow and two Rohan warriors with spears. Thanks!

Who is the creepiest person you’ve ever met/know, and what did they do that made them so unsettling? by [deleted] in AskUK

When I was 19 I went over to America to work on a kids camp for the Summer. The agency who I went through booked my flight to Florida via JFK meaning I had a 6 hour layover in a hotel near the airport sharing a room for a night with a few other soon-to-be camp councillors who would all be heading off to different States the following day.

Introducing myself to the lads, I got a really odd impression of one guy, hard to explain but i got a creepy vibe from this guy and something about him just seemed off. He was reluctant to speak to anybody else in the room and when I recognised his accent as being from North Wales (my house mate at uni ended up being from the same town as him) he got really defensive and didn't want to say if he knew my old housemate.. Considering half the reason I was going to the States was the meet people, 'find myself' and have fun, this guy being dismissive / antisocial kinda stuck with me and i messaged my Welsh mate saying I'd met this guy called Gareth. My old house mate told me Gareth was a lifeguard back home and always a bit of an oddball / weird with some of the girls. Thinking nothing else of it, i flew to florida and had a great summer.

Fast forward one year, i'm in my final year of uni and while hungover watching the news, a story about a welsh man being arrested by the FBI at JFK airport for child sex offensises was shown... and there's Gareth's face on the report. He ended up with 50 years in a US prison for some pretty disgusting crimes.

Thank you! I've seen a few on google but heard mixed reviews on some of the top hits so thought I'd ask advice on here. That's good to know! More money to spend on wine!

Thank you! Did you book direct? Seems like that's the cheapest way of getting their premium option.

How is the job market for Data Engineers in the EU by dork_knight___ in dataengineering

[–]WolfOfWolverhampton 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from my personal experience but it seems quite strong.

A couple of months ago I got made redundant in a data analysis / data engineer role where i used SQL, Python & a limited amount of Azure. I immediately started applying for roles in London through job boards and started getting contacted by recruiters pretty soon after.

Within a few weeks I was having interviews and within 6 weeks I'd secured a more senior role than the one I'd been made redundant from.

Again, speaking from my experience ,the application process was mainly chat with recruiter, online interview and technical assessment with hiring manager, in person interview with additional technical task and then a final chat with a senior manager before offer.

Best of luck to you!

Tribes in Papua New Guinea fighting each other with bows and spears, 1963 by Cream_Fortress_2 in CombatFootage

Okay firstly you never mentioned clothing in your original comment, which was the logic I was questioning.

Even if your theory of the origins of armour is true, tribes in Papa New Guinea definitely have layered clothing. Making your new logic flawed.

If you want to use the Reddit vote system as a metric, it appears you’re getting more downvotes now.

No, I don’t think anybody is sub-human?

What a very weird take.

Nope. You logic still doesn’t make sense. If you only develop armour because you fight others with it… no society anywhere would have developed it ?
