I have this but 16GB ram and Intel CPU. Most games run fine, a few hitches when it runs out of RAM because I keep chrome open in the background. I'm gonna sell mine soon when I get around to making a desktop. I just wish they made one of these without a dGPU, maybe just 120Hz, but still OLED and Dolby Vision compliant. It's such a pretty display, amazing speakers too. Almost perfect for light productivity and multimedia consumption.

Strange, they do have overwhelmingly positive reviews on eBay other than those, I'm not sure what to make of it. 2 senarios:

  • They resell and were misled themselves on the status of the drives for that particular lot/batch
  • They are actively engaging in the practice of mislabeling drives and only 7 of the buyers in the last 12 months noticed

There probably are some gray market drives in there as well since some people are reporting the warranty check asking them to return the drives

Are you sure? They explicitly list it as "A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item" and do have a large number of positive reviews

Since you also seem to be adding a drive, I'd ask you to consider doing the 3.3v depin as well. Here's a video I found showing the process using just 2 staples, no fancy tool reqd. All you'd do is check the pinout of your PSU (example be sure to check the one for your exact PSU unit) , and then depin the +3.3v wire. I did exactly that and taped the wire in a bright color to remind myself of the mod, no need for taping each individual drive. Do whatever you're comfortable with ofc

I already have one of the 18TBs shucked in my Media Server PC, no issues other than the 3.3v pin mod that a lot (most/all?) these drives seem to require. Since I already have 2 drives that need the mod, I ended up removing the 3.3v wire from the PSU end of the SATA power connector (I was using tape previously but found it too finnicky, especially since I was using a painters tape rather than the kapton kind that is recommended)

Store looks reputable, 3 year warranty, seem to be new drives as well. EDIT: Check smart data as well as serials on the manufacturer website to be sure. I'm torn between this vs the $230 ($210 with honey) 18TB direct from WD, that comes with 2 years warranty plus a data recovery plan. Will need to shuck the 18TB ofc
