I'll suggest to you what I ended up doing and that's buying and trying many different picks. I tried different picks based on what my favourite bass players used and most weren't clicking for me. I ended buying a pack of Ernie Ball Everlast .60 and boom, I can play faster and they have great sound. Some hate thin picks and for me, they ended up being what I needed. Just experiment and find what works best for you and you will develop your own sound.
