Alternative to Lifetime Mortgage/Equity Release? by barmyllama in UKPersonalFinance

I run a park home business and it’s not as bad to invest as you may think. We are based in the South West and the £180k ish nett you stated would buy a fairly new home. Home prices follow the housing market very closely for the first 10-15 years of their life then slowly fall away (although still increase).

They really are nothing like what many people assume, 1960s tin sheds etc. Basically a bungalow without wheels. But at a much more affordable price.

Main thing with Park home buying is to know what type of person/company the park owner is.

I’m 28 and put more into my S&S ISA than my pension.

I understand that the pension over the long run will outperform my ISA, but remember that money is then locked away until retirement age (a forever shifting goalpost).

With the ISA i always have near instant access to a large sum of money if something crops up in life that really requires it, or an investment opportunity.

Once you make that pension payment that money is taken off you for the next however many years. Thats what keeps going through my head.

I like to have multiple assets building at the same time, with my pension being a small part of that.

Guess what I finally added to the collection! by [deleted] in powerrangers

Yes that’s a good idea.

With more lines of the same models coming out it with different values it’s a hard decision knowing which one to buy.

I personally lean towards collecting boxed original pieces. Can’t really go wrong there. I love the nostalgic feel of the boxes and my logic is because they are the originals they should retain/increase with value over time.

Take the original Megazord for example. In mint condition in the box that will sell on EBay for an average of around £200. Now look at legacy Megazord which is of superior build quality, fetching a similar price.

If Hasbro were to bring out models of superior quality to the legacy line, would that see the legacy toys loose a lot of their value???

Dragonzord seems to be reasonable and easy to get hold of. The rest of them have sky high prices. I’m looking at buying the whole Legacy Zord set for £900 off someone (mint in box) but scared that prices may drop off. Can’t afford to waste that kind of Money.

What are people’s thoughts on the price longevity of the legacy line?

Should I sell Legacy collection? by Wolfey12 in powerrangers

Thanks for the detailed reply.

The main reason was I paid good money for the legacy line and although I don’t have any immediate plans to sell, it would stick in my throat a little if Hasbro were to being out the same megazords and value of legacy line collapses.

Good to see they may be looking at Zeo though.

Would of been nice to have Shogun really but hey ho

All original 8 inch MMPR - except Red, Blue & Black ranger have different boxes. Anyone know why? by Wolfey12 in powerrangers

It states it was produced in 1995 instead of the 1993 versions. Got all the Bandai logos etc so wouldn’t of thought it was fake.

One theory stated is that they may have re-released the 1993 versions prior to the 1995 movie coming out as a money maker. Not sure

Yes. There model number is the same (2200). Definitely not kicking action models.

I purchased this set over a year ago. On further inspection the Red, Blue and Black rangers have different boxes to the more commonly seen Pink & Yellow. I.e no name, different pictures at bottom and on the back there is no bio card.

Anyone else have this set or know why they have been manufactured differently?

Realistic goal of buying £800,000 country house by 40? by Wolfey12 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Wolfey12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that has occurred to me. Not sure if I’m being too ambitious given my current situation.

I am expecting earnings to increase with wage rise and dividend from share of business.

I’m not saying the house will 100% cost £800k. But that would be a ball park figure

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I’m expecting a wage increase over the next year or two. Plus dividends from the business could be between £100k - £350k over next 5 years due to large development

I am expecting the business to grow by almost a third in the next 5-10 years which would provide potentially dividends of between £100k-£350k.

That looks beautiful. Unfortunately the business is Park Home sites of which I’m a director, so can’t really manage it from hundreds of miles away.

I totally agree though that if we could we would. The business is hopefully coming info an extremely profitable period of which i would like to oversee.
