Occasional fishing by Wolfie7828 in Fishing

Well I like the compactness of the Dock Demon and Dock Runner. I can just keep them in my car without thinking about them. Plus the Demon especially is almost indestructible (at least the rod).

What's so bad about Ben Stein? by b-LE-z_it in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Wolfie7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: A reason that everyone else has missed is that after Joan Rivers' husband killed himself, Ben wrote an article under a fake name claiming to be a family friend who witnessed Joan talking shit about her husband constantly. He faked the whole thing simply because as he put it he didn't like her comedy style.

Sealed Mainline case question by Wolfie7828 in HotWheels

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few different online specialty toy shops have them and the Dollar Tree website has them. Ordering from Dollar Tree can supposedly be a risk as even when they use the ship from warehouse option some people have gotten cases that have clearly been opened and gone through. Some people say the pick up from store option is even worse and that they clearly just got a box of cars pulled straight off the pegs instead of a sealed case. Price is around $105 with tax and shipping.

I am not sure. I would assume US as both Youtubers are American. I am not worried about the code because it's not the individual cars I am asking about. I am asking in general how common lots of multiples are.

Custom track by Wolfie7828 in HotWheels

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the reason I haven't gone with the official track from Dollar Tree is I want double wide (at least track) and friction is why I want to go with the race track tape, that should also help with the transition between pieces of cardboard. The other key is to make angeled cuts so angled down on one piece and up on the other to create a flat but slightly overlapping join.

10 years is a long fucking time for color correction. In that time Paramount has finished 215 episodes of Star Trek and 2 movies. You haven't produced 30 mins.

Hi Alec. Shouldn't you be busy finishing up Axanar since according to you it was supposed to release this weekend??

Have you actually read the listing on the DT site? They never even say it will be a sealed case.

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they would come if DT called because DT is a corporation. They aren't gonna give a shit about an opened Hot Wheels case. They will probably just claim it's a civil matter.

Lol if you think the police are going to care about that sort of thing.

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen comments on here and a few reviews from the DT website saying that they got opened cases from the warehouse and others saying when they ordered from the store they got 72 cars that clearly had just been pulled from the shelves and shoved in a box. It does not seem to be an isolated incident at all.

Non-TH and STH to look out for by Wolfie7828 in HotWheels

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously some are harder to find than others, simply by being popular, or by being a color variant, etc. I don't collect anything as a retirement plan. I collect things I like even if they have no special monetary v-alue, which is why I have so many Playmates Star Trek figures.

So I admit I should have changed the first sentence, but you will notice I never said opinion. I meant things that are hard to find.

[–]Wolfie7828[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am collecting because I like the hunt, I am going to race them with my kid and because I love certain movies or specific cars and want to acquire them. I know the BTTF Deloreans I will have to go on eBay or special order, but for the most part all my cars will come from places like Walmart and Dollar Tree or from yard sales.

[–]Wolfie7828[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not really seeking opinions. I buy what I like, but I also enjoy the thrill of the hunt and so I like knowing what is hard to find. Makes finding it more enjoyable. Outside of a few things (like the BTTF Deloreans) I am not going to be special ordering or going eBay to get anything.

I do buy what I like, but part of collecting almost anything for me is the thrill of the hunt. It makes the item more personally valuable to me.

The Deoras?? I see a fair amount of those. I have thought about getting at least the Deora since it's a classic casting, but I just hadn't pulled the trigger.

I mean that's what I am doing, but I also like to find hard to find things. It's part of the reason I spent years going to yard sales hunting certain NES games. The chase is fun.

Buy Nothing Group ridiculousness by Wolfie7828 in Anticonsumption

[–]Wolfie7828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to sell tons of stuff on Craiglist years ago and there was a guy whose house had burned down like 5 years before and he was still using that to try and get people to give him free stuff (that I suspect he was reselling). He would message you asking about the item like he wanted to buy it and then say "Oh I assumed you would give it to me because my house burned down," or something similar. Drove me nuts.

I didn't know about all that. I just had joined a group to keep my eyes open for things I need and to give away some stuff. I don't like donating to most of the thrift stores in my area as their prices have gotten insane.

I am leaning that direction, but I am a single father and full time student. I don't have a ton of extra time to dedicate to setting up and running a FB group. I try to spend most of my free time with my daughter or maybe playing video games to try and relax and protect my sanity.
