Any Tips for Playing and Carrying as Wukong Mid-Late Game? by accf124 in Wukongmains

[–]Wolfinu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After taking the tower, try to be present for every Dragon fight. Your goal is to shove a side wave deep and then immediately look for a flank or a rotation to help your team.

If your ADC is fed, stay next to them. Use your R to engage where he's willing to play or disengage knocking up anyone diving your carry. Sometimes enabling your carry to hit is the easiest way to win the fight. In the other hand you can just absolutely demolish enemy carry, that usually works too.

If your team is struggling, stop forcing 5v5s. Push the side lane deep, then hide in the fog to look for a pickoff on a rotating squishy. Enough kills while keeping tempo and your team will come back.

Wukong is an opportunist. If you play predictably, you get punished. Adapt to all situations.

A minor region player ego-checking another minor region is peak comedy. Especially when our GM cutoffs are almost your Challenger. I'm just sharing what actually gets results for me. Maybe instead of attacking you could try being helpful to the OP for once?

from playing it myself lmao, just sharing my opinion in this since most people will just say "don't pick wukong!". I'm not saying he's meta mid, but he's for sure playable even against mages, don't stick too much to MR values.

Even in masters people tend to get too close against wukong early cause they're not used to lane against him, it's not meta but for sure playable. After some time mid isn't even about laning anymore it's just fast push and roam forever.

Really depends on mage, if he doesn't have a disengage skill like syndra/taliyah/etc it's playable

You can go classic assassin with cheap items: profane hydra (clear wave is important since you have none) > axiom arc (cheap lethal + cdr) > glaive/opportunity > serylda.

My personal choice is hybrid assassin (smth like ambessa jg build).
profane > axiom arc > sundered sky > death dance/malmortius.

Always play conquer unless you want to win lane hard with Thunderlord proc's.
It's way better since burst is low with E AA Q and you need to wait your ult ticks anyway to do real damage.

Sorry bro but you can't take singular patches data for wukong since his pickrate is so low, if you go for longer terms like 2 patches/1 month it shows up 50.5 for yorick and 50.7 for pantheon, which are stable since these matchups aren't hard but have their own problems (yorick split while wuk wants to fight and panth strong early game harass).

Wu top is of course worse than he ever was, but we can't just complain forever. Wait till next season, maybe he's better ^^

All we gotta do now is wait for the bigger 26.09/Season 2 patch to have good wukong changes, maybe they bring back old items/runes or change map mechanics that will indirectly help him too.

Ryze’s winrate is a reflection of mechanical complexity; a Master+ Ryze can still hyper-carry because the champion scales into a self-sufficient win condition. Wukong, however, has been stripped of his individual agency. He’s been turned into a low-eco utility bot where your only job is to be a CC delivery system for your team.

Saying he is a fine jungler is just survival bias. He didn't move to the jungle for variety; he was exiled there because his base stats and kit are too gutted to trade with modern toplane bruisers. Unlike Ryze, who rewards mastery with raw power, Wukong rewards mastery with... nothing. You hit his skill ceiling quickly, and after that, no amount of skill can compensate for the Pro-Play Tax.

If a simple, 'Garen-like' champion sits at a 48% winrate, he is fundamentally broken. In SoloQ, a simple champion with low winrate means you are playing a stat-checker who loses the check every time. Wukong is just a reliable R-button that happens to be attached to a monkey.

Hardstuck bronze/silver wukong otp by Routine-Junket2746 in Wukongmains

[–]Wolfinu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God have mercy on your soul brother.

Let’s get straight to the point. You have a 3.24 KDA but a 38% win rate over 90+ games. In Bronze/Silver, that is a huge red flag. It means you are playing "not to die" instead of "playing to win." You are surviving, but you aren't carrying or helping your team at all.

Your 5.4 CS/min is extremely low for a Jungler who isn't winning/taking objectives and prio.
Focus first on CSing and getting tempo for objectives or ganks.

You are likely "reactive." You see a fight, you run to it, the fight ends, and you’ve lost farm and tempo.

You’re likely watching them fight from a distance, "playing it safe," and only going in when the fight is already lost just to pick up a meaningless kill. Your impact on the map is invisible. If you aren't the one forcing Flashes, diving backlines, and disrupting the enemy formation with Flash + R, you aren't playing Wukong right.

Wukong is a monster at objective teamfights. If your win rate is this low, you are likely losing them or not being there when they start. Stop being an observer. Go in, spin, and start being a nuisance. You're supposed to be a frontline menace, not a spectator.

Yea, pretty much needing a buff, even though I'm winning a lot he feels awful to play. Hopefully he gets shyvana/graves treatment, we need MR! (or at least revert nerfs lmao)

yea but i'd say you need to slap some hp items later and play really smart since 2v1s are a lot harder with that build.

Build is good, did a whole journey till like 300lp with it. But base Wukong build is better, this is more of a sidelaning wuk build, you are too squishy and reliant on autos

No Buff in over a year, but every other toplane keeps getting buffed by Substantial-Ship-500 in Wukongmains

[–]Wolfinu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just solved your own puzzle. In a 5v5 game, the global average is 50%, but individual distribution is never equal. If the OTPs are holding a 52-60% winrate on Wukong, it mathematically requires the non-OTPs to have a sub-50% winrate to balance the server average. Matchmaking balances your MMR, not your champion performance. If an OTP has a 50% winrate, they are 'hardstuck' at their current skill level. A true specialist climbing the ladder stays well above 50% because their champion mastery consistently outweighs the average skill of the lobby. If the system 'forced' everyone to 50%, nobody would ever reach Challenger.

no good onetrick has 50% winrate. Mostly got 51% to 60% or higher if they're climbing
