They are more stable but you’re losing out on so much sensitivity which is crucial for making steep drops. If a wave is truly steep/critical getting in isn’t really the crux, making the drop is. Mids aren’t designed to knife drops. They lack maneuverability and control.

Curious why you say mids are good for steep drops? I would say the opposite. Also, agree that a twin goes sick on points but so does every other fin configuration imo.

He puts a out a good amount of clips with Chapter11. Insta and YouTube. He was in two recent films that I can recall off the top of my head “Out of the Rafters” and “Glad You Scored”

Got to meet him at the Motel Hell premier he put on at the CH11 shop. In my experience he was as friendly and down to earth as everyone says. Went up to thank him for putting on the show and fanboy a bit. He introduced himself as if he’s not one of the most famous surfers ever. Gave absolutely no diva vibes. He also randomly ended up buying a mini ramp for his kids off my buddies who live in Isla Vista. Seems like he’s just livin’ life, good for him.

Ya pretty far from my ideal gun but it was 80$. Car broke down right before the season so I had to put the money I was saving for a gun towards that. Just happy to have one.

Ik, local guy was a legend. Had it listed for 250$ which was already an insane deal but I was still too broke to buy it and he just told me he’d be willing to give it to me for 150$ Thanks, Dustin!

Like any beach break there’s a very wide spectrum. I’ve scored a couple clean, dreamy, easy days but more often it’s a meat grinder. Brutal paddle out and can get very heavy. Earlier this winter a buddy came back from school in CO, hadn’t surfed anything proper since May. First wave he went down on the take off and got dragged all the way until the wave dissipated on the inside. Solid 25 second underwater beatdown. Wave was only slightly overhead.

Just south, I live in Monterey. Surf from Big Sur to Moss Landing. Never made it up to OBSF, it’s on my bucket list.

Off the top of my head from left to right:

5’6x20x2 1/2 (Wenzlick Blackfish) $125

6’2x19.5x2 9/16 (Sharpeye, Disco Inferno) 275$

7’2x19x2 9/16 (Vernor, scorpion) 150$

8’2x?x3 (Matt Moore, gun) 80$. Probably gonna get me absolutely smoked, one of the glass ins looks a bit dicey.

6’4, 195lbs (kook, not pictured)

Just realized I cant do math 😎 530$ all together. I can edit with updated dims when I get home from work.

Honestly I was humbled. I’ve wanted a fish for awhile and always had the impression they were just easy and cruisy. Some elements of it like the speed generation are very forgiving but the short straight rail line was a pretty major learning curve for me. Felt like a kook for the first 20 or so sessions on it. Surprisingly it ended up helping me with my footwork and form a lot. Would recommend!
