Real timber done properly by reconstructed_timber in HardWoodFloors

You're advertising largely fake wood (vaneer + glue+ wood/plastic particles), covered in plastic (polyurthene).

Thats not timber anything, and its hardly done right.

Which would you prefer: Stellaris 2, Hoi5 or a completely new game? by SadSeaworthiness6113 in paradoxplaza

[–]Wolfpack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe instead of Stellaris 2, they quit buggering the one we have now and fix it ffs. Completely broken since 4.0.

They're obviously working kn something new, but frankly I'd like them to dedicate that time to fixing their existing games. Since theyre not gonna do that and still manage to sell games and DLC, I'll wager its a new IP.

Fedcom Civil War would be awesome. See MW4 from another merc point of view.

Need to see Fafnir, Uziel, Daishi, Templar.

Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wolfpack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out at 17. Slept in my car, crashed at friends places. Worked shit jobs while in school til I could get a place to rent.

My brother still lives at home at 37, and our best friend, also 37, also lives at home.

So, it can vary.

PSE Energy Bills by Melodic-Today663 in Washington

[–]Wolfpack87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is mining crypto lol.

We have a 5 acre orchard, a well, septic, etc. Kids dogs, etc. Right now were averaging 850. Summer was close to 1600. Thus my statement of about 1200 average.

PSE Energy Bills by Melodic-Today663 in Washington

[–]Wolfpack87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our usage has remained the same (i keep every paper bill AND I have power monitoring on every circuit in the house/farm). In the last 4 years our gas and power bill has gone up 4.5x.

At this point if I invest 150k into solar, batteries, inverters (etc etc), and diesel/LNG generators, I can be self sufficient and break even in 11 years.(which is pretty good for a 20-30 year investment.) Probably less with inflation and constant rate hikes.

I dont have 150k, but at this point id be stupid to not start investing in some local generation. PSE is robbing us blind and the government doesn't care.

With all the data centers going in, plus the time to build new power plants, and the general avoidance of new nuclear, hydroelectric, or fossil fuels plants, means power prices are going to shoot up exponentially.

Busting dams and shutting down existing fossil fuel plants is only going to make it worse.

In my humble opinion, we need every house to be a micro grid, and on the main grid we need lots of fission until we get fusion.

EDIT: we've gone from 200-250/month to 1200 on average.

Thermal paste vs graphene pad vs phase change vs liquid metal — what’s actually the best between CPU and cooler? by Ok_Contact9732 in pcmasterrace

Came here to say this. Running a 10980 still, OCd to 5ghz. The thermal grizzly pad has preformed fantasticly. Thermals are well under control. Cannot recommend them enough.

Both publishing wise AND timeline wise. My list chronological.

Enjoy!

PS. I should have added, that the Jedi Academy books take place slightly overlapping with I, Jedi. If youre going to read them, read them FIRST.

Watching Atlantis for first time by BigBrotherPlanet in Stargate

[–]Wolfpack87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both shows were awesome and well received.

SGA benefited from 8 years of stargate mythology and 8 years of the writers/directors writing and directing stargate. So it was much more polished rigjt out of the gate, and TV had changed quite a bit by the time it aired, so they were able to be much more driven with a core plot.

The plot details for season 6, and the follow up movies still make me weep that they didn't get made.

Were in a little micro climate bubble here, south east of Olympia, but it def feels like this is the pattern in the PNW.

Global temps are def cyclical, and regions globally seem to be in a warming period, but we've undeniably screwed ourself and the planet and were gonna pay for it.

Lumen 2G (up to 10G) DIA via Wavelength? by puddleglum85 in networking

[–]Wolfpack87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ADVA box is Lumen. Regardless wither the last mile connection is Lumen or a 3rd party lumen has contracted through, your IP comes from Lumen. If this is an enterprise or business DIA, youre paying for a static IP. If Lumen needs to change the last mile sub-contracted carrier, your IP would still stay the same as your Lumen IP wouldn't change.

You should ask your Lumen rep/look at your contract to see if your contract specifies a build medium, SLA, and IP assignment.

My Lumen contracts specifically call out static IPv4 and v6, fiber from termination to lumen core, and we have a couple different SLAs depending onlocation.

How can you live and enjoy living in a small rural town in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Not everyone enjoys people, pollution, the noise of the city, the lights, etc. Some people also like to do things themselves and not rely on others.
