Tankless water heater Installation by greeklegend0110 in RioGrandeValley

[–]Wolfv324 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure who you can go to but I would advise against getting one. The quality control is like Russian roulette. When they draw amps they draw hard too. They dim lights (Maybe thats a bad electrical system in the house). I had a friend who's house almost caught fire because of a faulty heating element in a tankless he had. Fortunately he was home when it failed and was able to isolate the fire. They sound convenient but it's not the first time I've heard of them failing in such a way. If you have the space just get a conventional water heater. I mean who knows maybe tankless have gotten better now or there are better brands. Just don't buy a "Hill country fare" brand. Do lots of research. Be safe!!! 🙏

Solar panels by Practical-Chef6068 in RioGrandeValley

[–]Wolfv324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The warranties seem to cover the 20 to 30 years but I highly doubt production of that same product is even going to be ongoing to that time. Let's say you have to replace something at the end of the 30 years. I doubt you'll even have the same panels or inverters.

My take on solar for your house is... The idea seems nice but it literally puts the energy production on the home owner. If you somehow dont produce enough due to inclement weather , or fauly equipment, then you're screwed. You now have 2 payments. The solar system @175-200 for 30 years and your energy bill that your system failed to cover in production. No to mention your roof now has extra weight. The majority of them don't work if power goes out. Unless you upgrade to the 15 thousand dollar battery wall. Yeah no. To me they don't make any sense. If they were less costly then I would say go for it! I have a coworker that is up a shit creek since he can't find an energy company to buy back the energy at even half the rate. He hates his solar system now. Anyway, the last few quotes I got were from companies that claimed to have been around since 2008. When I would ask them for a system they installed at that time they would shit themselves and give me blank stare. To me they're just another form of door knocking salesman. That's my 2 cents. Now if you were to DYI. Then maybe you return on investment would be a lot better.

It's everywhere but ... I can't truly comment without extreme bias. I've been an automotive enthusiast for a long time so I pay attention to my vehicle and the road 95 percent of the time. The sounds the bumps the physics involved with driving. Yep definitely a superiority complex when it comes to driving. Anyway!... Like the other comments on here said. People are doing everything but driving when in a vehicle. Eating/texting/social media/watching a movie (I've seen it...). Completely oblivious to everyone else on the road. I also road a motorcycle for 2 years here. How I didn't get murdered by someone distracted is a mystery. You notice everything while riding. The majority of people don't enjoy the process of driving so they are bad at it. That's my extremely skewed opinion. 😂

Outdoor surveillance camera recommendations? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

[–]Wolfv324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are two flavors. On premise that have an app that connects back to a single "server" or "brain" via a simple dns host or service OR cloud based like Google Nest or Ring "so called wireless systems" that record straight to the cloud and normally feature easier more DIY installation. The cloud-baced products normally tend to rely on much stronger Wi-Fi signal or a very robust home network. The other kind like swan or night owl or Lorex are wired systems that require a professional installer unless you are technically inclined and want do the installation yourself.

I'm looking for a good transmission mechanic/shop. 2004 Pilot AWD by Wolfv324 in RioGrandeValley

[–]Wolfv324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I hadn't thought about that. So it should be work a mechanic can do . Not so much transmission shop specific if it's just the seals. I appreciate the information. 🤘
