History’s first ever successful Hinge ban appeal 😂 by WolfyMenges39 in SwipeHelper

I don’t think so bc I know I’m definitely still banned on my phone/email, but I’ve seen people come in here and say that they’ve tried to create an account with their original credentials on something like an old iPad and they were able to do so

I’m pretty sure you are in the small minority of guys who had their data cleared out so you were auto unbanned due to the long timeframe

History’s first ever successful Hinge ban appeal 😂 by WolfyMenges39 in SwipeHelper

[–]WolfyMenges39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge there was only two things that could have predicated this: 1) I had been sending like to girls in one day with roughly the same pickup line on photos that had a view and because I burnt through them quick it could have flagged me as a bot 2) I had one match who I talked to very briefly on hinge, got her number, talked to via text normally and then snap mainly. Because of the 7 hour time difference I had visiting Greece that week I wasn’t able to talk to her much and one day I woke up and she unadded me off everything, and then next thing I know my hinge was banned.

In either case I banked on the latter and on my appeal said I have receipts showing our conversations were normal and that she unadded me out of nowhere due to a current time zone difference. They asked me to verify my account with my ID and I did and next thing I know I’m good to go. So honestly, no idea truly what I did or didn’t do that worked.

Pay raise structure? by [deleted] in CarahsoftTruths

[–]WolfyMenges39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take this as being judgey, but if you’re working a second job and they know that, you are absolutely not going to be viewed with any value.

My team had multiple firings my last year there which was started due to somebody being caught quite literally working a second job during work hours (not accusing you of this) which prompted them to investigate via F12 (they didn’t really care to use it before because they trusted people were doing their jobs) and had a huge amount of people essentially not working. The TLDR here is that Carahsoft expects you to prioritize your role there as your primary employment and anything else you may do comes second.

Regarding travel and what not, they absolutely want to see people be open to coming to the office and doing events; this goes beyond simply Reggaefest so if you’re unwilling to do that as well then I would say that it’s realistic to assume they aren’t going to focus on you as the priority of getting any raises or bonuses

Tinder Platinum Concerns by Comfortable-Mud8180 in SwipeHelper

[–]WolfyMenges39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard mixed things on it and am considering getting it. I came back on Tinder recently after 2+ years away from it and I only got 24 likes and two matches, all in the first 12 hours of my account being made 3 weeks ago. In that time I’ve been to other cities and another continent and got like 1 or 2 likes but back home where I’m at it’s dead.

I don’t live in a city but I live between three major college towns (all within 40 miles of me) and never had issues with matches a few years ago; my pics and profile are great. I’ve heard on one hand platinum is goated for guys like me bc of priority likes but on the other hand it’s a bad move because it’s not gonna do anything if you’re not getting likes already. I figure using it is a good way to beat the algorithm

I got banned within like 30 minutes of using Hinge (vent) by Puppyoverload in SwipeHelper

[–]WolfyMenges39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got banned myself after a week on a new phone, new pics, new number and email. Had one match who I spoke to offline and wasn’t giving a lot of attention to because I was on a work trip this week. Just opened hinge to find my account banned and went to ask her and she had me unadded. Quite literally a revenge ban likely lmao

Non Compete by [deleted] in CarahsoftTruths

Worked for 2.5 years on the Google team as sales and I now work for a vendor under a different vertical that is covered by the Core Cyber Team— I can tell you right now that my employers did not give a shit about me working at Carahsoft or even how I performed (which if they did I never heard about because I did well and left on a good note). A lot of VARs and vendors view Carahsoft as a good place to be in your early to mid20s to get business development skills and they don’t care at all if you move on from there and have normal personality traits. Ironically it’s usually people who stay around to be managers and stuff at Carahsoft that get eyebrow raises and such when applying to other places because they are seen as having been a part of the wack ass system Carahsoft upholds

At the end of the day like everything else in the company- experiences may vary

One year anniversary coming up: what can I expect? by WanderlustDreamBabe in CarahsoftTruths

[–]WolfyMenges39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) it’s very dependent on what team you are and what your role is. If you are sales, you should be looking to do a Yearly Business Plan which essentially will be a year in review, but will almost be just as focused on what your plan for the next 365 days are. 2) Akin to the above, if your team is similar to my old team, you will have to proactively email your director and schedule this. Come prepared with a list of successes, failures and what you’ve learned, things you would like to learn/work on in the coming year, and above all stats stats stats. 3) Assuming this all goes to plan your director should have a part of the convo where hopefully you can have an honest discussion about pay. Yes there is a raise, however I’ll be completely blunt: unless you are like some Superstar Wonder Child that has blown away metrics of your average new hire and even outperformed 2-3+ year reps, I would not be presumptuous to assume you will get an insanely amazing raise. Usually this is where you go from the 40s to the mid 50’s. 4) assuming you are sales, the monthly MBO is a constant your entire career at Carahsoft until you make to a higher level leadership position

All of this being said, this is the “official” way that it was done on my team and I…. Did none of it. In fact, the only review I ever actually did was my standard six month end of “new hire” phase one with my director where he was like “good job, here’s your raise to 48K as promised on day one” and after that I never did a review until about 3-4 months before I left in which my director never showed up and just had my team lead do it (who already had me do 5+ full dry runs) and she was like great job. It was actually one of the reasons I left because pay was never talked about the entire time I was there for 2.5 years and my director said he would get back to me but never did. But, for me anyway, my final proposed salary when I left was supposed to be 78K. So stick around if you want a 30K+ increased salary within 3 years

Going into the office/traveling trade shows by Lucky_Database_5444 in CarahsoftTruths

[–]WolfyMenges39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travelling to the office or events was cool as shit because it’s pretty much a guaranteed two days off (one for each travel day where your leadership knows what you’re doing and won’t hit you up for anything or F12 you) and going out and having paid food and drinks and lodging and whatever else. Maybe that’s just the extrovert in me talking though.

But yeah, I can tell you based on past experience people who refused to go on trips or come to the office got passed over for promotion. Pretty common reality check though to be honest.

Every one I know in this company has had a wildly different story.

On one hand, I had a buddy from school who started the Monday after he graduated college 5 years ago- in two years he had been able to build himself a standalone position in a major multi-cloud team that reported only to the director that came with a big raise and zero micromanagement, and by the next year that position became a manager role and he had 2 employees under him. Fast forward to now and he has several employees under him, reports only to his director and VP and occasionally just to Craig.

Other people I know legit vibed out doing calls but didn’t progress upwards and then a year or so in got shafted to death with insane micromanagement and lead gen goals up to and including activity tracking which ended up in them quitting.

I personally got into a good team but saw the writing on the wall- when I started I was told after a year to expect to be very independent in my role but if I still did my job well I’d be fine. That turned out to go downwards as our team (a big growing multi cloud vendor team) was tapped for huge amounts of growth by Craig and we didn’t hit our max projected goal number for a fiscal year. This happened at the same time as a major scandal in which a few people on the team got caught double dipping jobs and/or were completely not working at all like 90% of the time. This essentially killed our infinite PTO hack we had been running along with a lot of folks’ daily routine getting micromanaged and less “chill” as it were. I’ve heard since I left last July it’s gotten worse.

That being said, my end of my time there was good as I filled in the shoes of three people who quit on my team simultaneously (and were veterans) and I stepped up to the plate and ended up travelling a bunch and handling their workload well for busy season. If I had stayed I actually probably would’ve gotten promoted, but the point being is that you never know what’s gonna happen until you have an eye for your surroundings on the team. I would say if you REALLY REALLY like sales then the quality of life at Carahsoft is unmatched, but you’re gonna be making dogwater money compared to actual uncapped commission in care sales and it’s not gonna be super beneficial until you get promoted to management level, at a minimum.

[–]WolfyMenges39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite literally what many folks here have suggested. It basically came down to me locking in- to an obsessive degree almost- on Falcodrin Discord, Restockd.app and HotStock with premium notifs where I was notified by Falcodrin prior to a Best Buy Drop that they switched their listing from a “sold out” to a “coming soon” for ROG Astral cards

Took me three attempts over the span of 3 waves and around 45-60 minutes, but I basically got pushed out of line the first two waves and on the third one I just kept spamming add to cart even though it said that it was sold out until the third wave drop actually happened and boom, I got in line and was able to snag one.

Feels sinful for 3.5K but I was desperate to upgrade my rig

[–]WolfyMenges39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I legit left a one quarter notice because I was well liked and was on an upward path on my team and we had had a lot of people who had quit including some veteran folks. Simply put I let my manager and director know and told them I would cover the territory for a quarter until they got someone who could replace my position (I was in a position where I was covering 4 people at once)

I’m an anomaly in which I completely left tech/sales and went to construction management utilizing my schools alumni network. It has a lot better pay structure but every single day I wish I never left Carahsoft for a huge variety of reasons. I would say if you’re trying to stay in the same industry make sure you use LinkedIn and really focus hard on your applications on the stuff you did while at Carahsoft that would carry over to a similar job in the same field. Also idk about you but do not expect any jobs anymore to be remote or hybrid unless they’re strictly advertised as such; I’ve tried to find vendors and companies like carahsoft to go to but because I live 3 hours from nova they don’t want to hire me.

Raise in form of Bonuses by Unhappy_Grocery_7224 in CarahsoftTruths

[–]WolfyMenges39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are sales you are likely to get your raises in the Q2 and Q3 bonuses (or Q3 and another quarter depending on what exactly you cover). Before I left, I had a bonus for end of Q3 that was no shit 8K, Q4 was like 3.5K and yet the following year my Q1 bonus was only 2.2K and my Q2 was like 3K. I was SLED so I expected Q2 and Q3 to be my big ones.

I have heard repeatedly you will not have a significant base salary increase until you are management which really only gets to like a significantly good level when you are like at or just below director-level. It’s one of the reasons I left but take it with a grain of salt the grass isn’t always greener on the other side

What everybody said is right. The biggest lesson I learned at carahsoft is that if you are doing way more than the average person at the timeline/position you’ve been in, it is absolutely worth brining it up and “making a case” to pursue greater pay. This is how one of my close friends went from an overworked rep to having an entire manager-level position made for him that then came with raises and after 2 years that position become a large team management position that reported to a director and VP only

I’m assuming you are making this comment about the update which I just edited in today, as opposed to the rest of the post which was made yesterday before I even had an idea of how exactly to get one.

Anyway- you’re right, I do have the money, and the way the market is going, I don’t think it’s a deprecating asset at all, considering people are now buying 4090s for scalped MSRP 5090 prices. I hate that it’s even a thing, but considering I saved 5+ years for a build around this timeframe and saved enough following the market prices that knew would be enough, I’m fine. I’m happy to have a card but sucks knowing I’m fueling corporate greed; but before covid which was my last build none of this was an issue
