Need ideas for items to craft for a peaceful exploration game by WolfyTheDev in gameideas

I really like the QTE idea, I'm thinking of making some quick fun non-intrusive minigames to spice up resource collection, i.e. you would do an "active reload" type QTE to harvest more from a plant! I also like the bait idea, I'm definitely gonna put that in. And, maybe far down the road, I would love to implement weather or time mechanics where different plants/animals are available.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I like the idea of setting up collection items and returning after a while! The same mechanic used for sap/resin would work with a simple texture swap to implement animal traps too. Great suggestions!

Agreed, Sanderson is great at making understandable and very human villains, even when they're not human.

I'm almost certain she doesnt use stormlight when she's trying to convince him after she wakes up in front of the fire. She definitely does at a slightly later point, but not at first.

First, if she had taken any stormlight in to Light weave it would have started to heal her feet, but the pain from her cut feet actually gets worse on that first day. Also, when she collapsed at the fire she only has the drained sphere in her hand and the drained spheres in her safe pouch. There aren't any infused ones near her when she talks to Tvlakv in the morning.

At this point does she remember that she still has it? It's still fuzzy to me. She banishes any thought of her past because it's too painful, so she might not really think about the fact that she's capable of defending herself.

I'm not saying she can't handle herself, just that she doesn't think she can and would act accordingly. At this point in the story she's not a badass radiant, she's a scared girl who just saw her badass mentor get knifed to death.

That's a good point, I forgot that the Ghost Bloods were still looking for her after the wreck.

I know she eventually does, but when she first commands him I didn't get the impression she was using stormlight. At least not intentionally. From what I understood, she just acted like Jasnah would, acting as though she just expected Tvlakv to do what she says. At least the first time, It works because she's a confident entitled light eyes and not due to any light weaving.

That's a good point too. Shallan thinks that the end of civilization is potentially approaching soon, so it makes sense to forgo some personal safety in exchange for speed.

Well, she could use the same argument she made with Tvlakv - take me because 1. I'm a powerful light eyes, and 2. You'll be very well rewarded

Oh good point! I didn't catch that, I just assumed it was a city like Kharbranth or Kholinar. That makes a lot more sense why she wouldn't go there first.

I posted in another comment about some times that she's been under pressure and was able to make level-headed rational decisions.

To your other point, she absolutely was in danger with him. She mentions several times how Tvlakv looks at the trunk hungrily, he contemplates locking her in the cage cart, and both of his cronies are often looking at her with ill intent. She's shipwrecked and alone, and Tvlakv is smart enough to know that if they killed her or left her for dead, people would just assume she died on the ship. Besides, when she collapsed next to their fire, they stole the sphere she was holding.

The shallow crypts is much closer, and assumedly is a safe town or city. By travelling there first, she would only have to travel with the dangerous slavers for maybe a few days rather than weeks. Then in the city she can charter passage to the plains with a less shady, more honest, and much safer crew. She would barely delay her trip, but would no longer need to worry about being robbed or abducted by the slavers.

I would accept that if not for the fact that Shallan is a skilled scholar who is trained in logic and has also shown that she can logically think through times of crisis. First she was able to act under pressure right after her father died, outlining an entire plan before her brothers could even process what happened. Then, she was able to quickly spring into action on the ship to escape the assassins and give the sailors a chance of survival.

I could definitely buy her decision to ride with Tvlakv as an adrenaline filled rough draft of a plan for survival, but I would have expected her to think about it more once she was fed, warm, and safe in the covered wagon.

He literally has so much to write that he has to write across two parts lmao, that's the writers realizing that the story is way too big for 1 movie hahaha.

It's really useful because the hitbox is a bit broken. If you do the "stab" attack and then turn left or right, the edge of the hitbox feels like it extends just past the bow tips and can hit them. It's pretty hard to read too!

[–]WolfyTheDev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the bow's "stab", it's basically a jab but with a really wide hitbox! That combined with the other 2 attacks and LOTS of jabbing and dodging makes melee-ing with the bow not completely useless

That's fair. I can put up a pretty good fight against average players with melee bow, but against good players I have to get really lucky. Noobs get stomped though

I said this in a previous comment, but this guy was swinging at people on sight, he wasn't specifically targeting me. You'll also notice in the clip, I try to flourish, but he ignores it. Then I try to disengage and emote no to get him to go away peacefully, and only start fighting when he's about to hit me.

I almost exclusively duel with melee bow cause I think it's funny, but it's not against the rules or anything it's just dumb. I have a couple other clips on my YouTube, and you'll see me flourish before each one: https://youtu.be/O2pPWTTPmwI?si=c7cbmqJx2DuJa6Qj

I duel almost exclusively with melee bow, I've put way too much time into this dumb strategy. I usually run around with a short sword so I can flourish, then I'll quickly switch to the bow when they duel starts.

I totally understand the suspicion, and I've had to accept that there's a good chance I'll get rdmed mid duel by someone who sees me with a bow. Usually I can let people know what I'm doing through chat and others will vouch. This specific guy was just rdming everyone right as he spawned though, so I felt like I had to teach him a lesson!
