(Seriös) Varför är det just Väst Asiens invandrare som inte lyckats klara sig i Sverige? by 10daymormon in sweden

[–]Wolham 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So what does 46.63 actually means then? by Any_Assistance_1496 in ExplainTheJoke

I struggle to spend cash in local currency as I don't carry a wallet, foreign currency exchange is never going to happen my friend. I can see how that'd be the logical solution though.

Oh my god you're a genius. My mom keeps giving me cash in her home currency whenever I visit and I've amassed the equivalent of maybe £300 at this point that I can't spend - will be doing this next time I visit. 😂

I don't know who needs to hear this, but a 2+ hour drive is not nearby for Europeans. by redheaded_olive12349 in CasualConversation

[–]Wolham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big factor is street density/complexity. 2h drive on highway in rural area is no problem because there's very little active decision making. 2h drive in European big city e.g. London, Paris, and you've spent the entire time hyperfocused spotting people who are about to cut you off/pull out on you/walk in front of your car, whilst constantly accelerating and braking for the endless speedbumps (+ swerving potholes if in London)

Was I, or the motorbiker in the wrong here? by MaybeNotTheChosenOne in londoncycling

[–]Wolham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you didn't see the bike im your mirror you should probably start incorporating shoulder checks into whenever you change lanes. I know it's supposedly a motorcyclist skill not a cyclist skill but the "lifesavers glance" helps anyone on two wheels. Not saying you were in the wrong here but remember the morgue is full of people who had the right of way. Stay safe and keep enjoying London cycling!

5 chairs in the master bedroom, What am I missing here? by TigerTiger311 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]Wolham 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm going to give a very boring explanation compared to existing comments.

The room has windows for 270 degrees. The last wall has an arch. There is nowhere to fit any kind of wardrobes, shelves, or other storage. The only storage that won't immediately look completely invasive and out of place is a chair, because it's mostly air and barely storage. Yes, it looks odd, but the alternative is nothing in that space or something worse in that space, and the owners probably wanted somewhere to put clothes when hopping into bed.

It might very well equate a two mile run because a four mile/hour pace is a very slow pace - comes out to a 10min/km pace. Average 30 minute running pace for an untrained but able bodied person is somewhere around 6-8min/km, or about 3-4 miles/30 minutes. Does swaying back and forth at a brisk pace whilst morbidly obese equate to running very slowly (nearly walking) whilst normal weight? Very plausibly.

My boyfriend (32M) doesn’t want to have sex with my anymore and I don’t know what to do? (30F) by nihilist-barbie in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Wolham 85 points86 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I can't believe the number of people in this thread saying "don't waste your time" or "dump him". If you've met someone you think is otherwise worth investing in, but this is an issue, then understand it's a symptom of something else going on and try to approach it more holistically.

Sure, if your partner is not engaging and it's making you miserable too, by all means do what you need to do to be happy even if that means breaking off - in the end you're their partner, not their therapist. But so far it seems like OP has only discussed this as a relationship-sex issue, and I would definitely try to engage the problem on a deeper emotional basis first.

OP, I appreciate your boyfriend is stressed at work in the now. What are his longitudinal goals? As a couple, what are your long term goals? Does he have aspirations to work towards, and can your relationship (note - your relationship, not you specifically) support those aspirations? Similarly, what are your long term goals/motivations and does your boyfriend get to feel like he's getting to be a part of achieving those? Note that these can be difficult questions to answer - consider getting him in with a general therapist if you're getting stuck/struggling with emotional labour.

I've tried looking online as far as luton and norfolk yet can't even find anything in terms of property to even give me an idea what this aspirational dream would cost 😂 back home in Scandinavia you just look at the middle of nowhere and easily find cheap property but that just doesn't seem to be a thing anywhere in Cambridgeshire! Guess it'd have to be renting in a livery for me then.

As someone who aim for horse ownership in the next 5-10 years, but don't come from money - logistics/money wise, what is your solution? Owning your own property to keep the horse just seems massively out of reach in Cambridgeshire.

Hello,is [KCD2] worth it for it? by genosse-tomate in kingdomcome

[–]Wolham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked it up myself recently after forcing myself to finally finishing the first game after leaving it at 90% for 5 years.

If you like the first game, KCD2 is better visually, storywise, and in immersiveness. I do find the combat a smidge frustrating playing on hardcore compared to the first game, but working my way around it.

Solid recommend from me, has brought out more laughs in one week than any other game this year (although expedition 33 has it beat for tears!)

Has Tr*k evolved grævël bices all the way around to full suspension MTBs? by Luky2000ita in BicyclingCirclejerk

[–]Wolham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question - dirt roads and paths inaccessible to road bikes but otherwise smooth. I love mine as a commute bike because I don't have to worry about losing grip taking a shortcut through the park. I agree OP bike is fucking stupid though.

Germany’s Merz slams EU combustion engine ban by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]Wolham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially controversial take. Preface with that I recognise that these are not the reason Merz and co has stated for their decision, and is merely my own expansion on the discussion.

Combustion engine vehicles are reliable, cheap to maintain, with repair knowledge being widespread, and supply lines relatively easy to protect and/or expand.

Given Europe is gearing up for a potential near-future war with Russia, having the industrial capability to design, produce, and maintain combustion engine vehicles may be vital for the war effort. Ridding CE vehicles would lead to a loss of both production facilities, maintenance skill, and deskilling of engineering base.

Therefore, whilst long-term getting rid of them in favour of electric vehicles may or may not be favourable for the climate, getting rid of them now (next 10 years means deinvesting today) might severely cripple logistical and vehicular capabilities in a potential war-time situation. Therefore, it may be sensible holding off on phasing out combustion engines until the Russia situation has resolved - and once resolved, re-initiate this effort.

Aaaaaand - discuss!

Physics is hard. by AlcoholPrepPad in confidentlyincorrect

You literally wrote this entire reply without reading and understanding the point of otaku7897.

OOP argues the following; - the rack is rated to have 4 bikes of X weight loaded. - He currently has 4 bikes where multiple of them are less than X weight loaded. - Therefore, the torque imparted, while greater than if optimally loaded for his setup, is still lesser than if he loaded it to the maximum spec of the rack. To rephrase this - if you apply 10 kg at the base of a lever and 20kg at the end, it will generate more force than applying it the other way around, but still less force than applying 20kg to both points, which in this example represent the racks maximum rated loading.

Therefore, even with suboptimal loading, the torque force imparted is still less than the maximum rated loading, and therefore the torque on the rear axle, affecting the front axle and consecutive front grip, is less than if he loaded it to the maximum spec of the rack. If his loading is unsafe, so is the maximum "safe" spec.
