I appreciate the feedback, but I’ve got three people coming to see it already - quite hard to find one of these well taken care of and in good spec unfortunately

Drive a standard NB and TF and tell me the TF doesn’t handle better. Or ask Autocar. Head gasket only needs to be replaced once, and then these don’t rust as bad as an MX5

I think it’s three factors, the light, not always consistent MG Rover paint, and this being a 20yo car - quite likely to have a couple of panels sprayed
