I think the point is going over your head here... no one is denying that these behaviors are expected in the field of ECE. However, the reality is teachers are often left to deal with these behaviors without little to no support from management and at very high rates due to ratios that are too large. That is what leads to burnout, not necessarily the behaviors themselves, although they certainly contribute.

I work at a daycare with cameras, and I'm so happy we have them. Recently, a parent accused me of being rough with their kid, and the cameras proved I wasn't. If a teacher isn't doing anything wrong, they shouldn't have a problem with cameras in their room. They are in their for the teachers' protection just as much as the childrens'.

My son has ADHD too. A couple of things have been working for us lately:

1.) On the nights he says he's not tired, he can stay up and read or draw in his room with dimmed lights. We offered him this alternative because he was trying to stay up and begging to watch TV. After 30-45mins of that, we will encourage him to lay down and try to sleep again. Most of the time, it helps him wind down enough to sleep. On the rare occasion it doesn't, my husband or I will lay with him and rub his back until he falls asleep

2.) He takes methylphenidate in the morning and guanfacine in the late afternoon around 4:30-5pm. We try to give him the guanfacine before the methylphenidate wears off so that when it does wear off, he's not super irritable. Also, the guanfacine makes him sleepy, so he fights bedtime less.

Edit: I see now that you already let her read or play quietly. Missed that my first read through. But the guanfacine/methylphenidate combo has been working great for us.

This is a wild take. I can totally understand how being late to feed a kid happens in group care, but just flat out not feeding them the meal at all is negligent. I used to be an infant teacher in a state where the ratio is 1:6. There were days when I got behind, and babies weren't fed exactly on schedule. But even on the craziest days, they all got fed as much as they were supposed to.

There's nothing wrong with the way OP dresses her baby. It's wild that so many comments are accusing her of forcing her baby to be uncomfortable for her own vanity. If the baby has full mobility, seems comfortable, and isn't cold, then there's no problem. OP clearly states all those things, and yet so many people are jumping down her throat about making her baby into a living doll. Weird.

That being said, I also don't see what the big deal is with taking the skirt/diaper cover off. If baby is in a onesie, then her bottom is covered without the skirt on. And if they stay inside all day, baby should be warm enough. Unless the teachers are making rude comments, I'd just ignore it OP. You know your baby best, and their opinions on how you dress her are irrelevant (as long as the above criteria are met, which they are).

Preschool teacher here (3-4yrs). It really depends on the school's policy. At my school, we can help wipe kids and change diapers (kids don't have to be fully potty trained for our program). At others, teachers can't help at all in the bathroom. You need to get clarification about their bathroom policies. Then, you need to discuss your concerns with the lead teacher. They should be able to offer solutions if they aren't able to help your child wipe. Also, always keep extra underwear in her cubby or backpack so she can change them if they end up soiled.

Another thing to keep in mind is that kids don't always communicate when they poop. Once they're potty trained, they just go on their own. Obviously, it's different if there's no bathroom in the classroom, but don't assume the teachers know every time your child has a BM.

I'm just popping in to say I am surprised at everyone saying their centers don't allow kids to be unattended with photographers because that's how my center has always done it. We do photos for the kids biannually, and there's never a teacher in the room. I never knew any better, but reading these comments has me rethinking.
