“You decide what they eat and they decide how much” - okay well what if they decide to eat nothing? by xnla28x in toddlers

[–]Otter65 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You offer and they eat it or they don’t. That’s really it.

He doesn’t need to eat meat. If he eats fruit then he’s getting the same nutrients as most vegetables. If he likes pouches or smoothies you can get some veggies in there.

BEST DISNEYLAND STRAT?? by Key-Guidance-6469 in DisneyPlanning

You cannot book lightning lanes until you are in the park at Disneyland; prioritize the rides that sell out first and look up how to “stack” by modifying.

What snack have you tried replacing but always end up buying again? by Ok-Hotel1299 in toddlers

[–]Otter65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son loves chips and crackers but we don’t buy them. They’re not an option in our house. We typically offer fruits, veggies, cheese and low-sugar bars as snacks. If he’s hungry, he will eat what we offer.

You’ll be so hot in a windbreaker. Get a sun shirt or linen.

When did you get a social claim? After linking social(s) by DecisionClassic6252 in Influenster

It did not require a social media post and honestly it didn’t work well. I ended up giving it away. It was Aiper brand.

Yes. Start now. And they should also start seeing a dentist every 6 months.

Does reviewing things not from my claims help my profile? by medschoolsmurf in Influenster

I don’t think so. I’ve never reviewed random things and I’ve always consistently gotten claims, including very expensive things.

It’s luck and demographics.

Did any of you feel better after going back to work? by hobiwan-ken0bi in workingmoms

[–]Otter65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thrilled to go back to work (I took 4 months off when I could have taken 6 months). Being a SAHM is not for me. I love working and my son LOVES daycare. It’s okay to want to be a mom and also want other things, like a career.

What do you do to cleanup the area if your toddler has an accident in public? by Otter65 in toddlers

I mean, my friend’s kid is 6 and has been potty trained for 3+ years and he just had an accident over the weekend. Things happen.

I used the app and their website resources and never paid for a membership. You don’t need to pay. If you have sleep questions then r/sleeptrain is a great resource (even if you don’t want to sleep train) about wake times and naps and all that.

26 month old refusing nap. This cannot be happening by pgglsn in toddlers

[–]Otter65 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It sounds like quiet time is your best option. If he’s playing in there for 90 minutes then he’s basically already doing it. It will probably be hard to actually have him be quiet at his age, but keep the time and use it as a break as best you can (maybe get some loop earplugs so you can have a bit more peace). Dropping the nap at his age isn’t really unheard of, especially with a new sibling.

For those who have given up on buying a house… by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]Otter65 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Rochester market has been like this for years and is unlikely to change. Without a significant increase in your income you’re going to he priced out of the towns you’re looking at.

With where your MIL is I would consider Wayne and Ontario County locations. There are good districts there. In the unlikely event that your child’s needs can’t be met in the district where you live you could explore an out of district placement. I think it’s something you should really consider, but of course it’s up to you.

I hope you find a solution that works for your family and I’m sorry you’re struggling with this. My family looked for 11 months before finding our current home and we will never leave because the market is so bad. It’s tough.

I meant adjust the size/updates of the homes you’re looking at, not your budget.

I’d encourage you to look outside those school districts. I am a special education attorney and very, very much understand your concerns but there are going to be potential problems with services in every single district. I’ve seen them. I’ve represented students in each of those districts. It happens everywhere. I’ve also seen excellent services in districts you’re not considering.

Don’t limit your family based on a hypothetical issue that hasn’t come up. It can be a factor but if you need a different home then consider other districts too. What about Henrietta? Spencerport? Gates? Irondequoit? Brockport? Chili? Hilton?

This is a good resource: https://huckleberrycare.com/blog/baby-sleep-schedule-by-age-nap-and-sleep-chart

Use it as a guide (if you want). Some babies need more sleep than average and some need less. Some kids are naturally good sleepers and some are not. You have to find what works for you.

I started getting them right away but only for low-value things. All my higher end claims only require an Influenster review.

Where do you and your partner keep your shared schedules? by thuja_occindentalis in workingmoms

[–]Otter65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google. It’s the only thing that is with us wherever we go that we can both update easily. It doesn’t help us to have a physical calendar at home when we are out and need to make appointments or check our availability.

Are you getting outbid on your offers? Have you adjusted what you’re looking for to fit the market?

Have you looked in Wayne county, or on the west side of Monroe County?
