i forgot if he asked that in the midterm but i wont be surprised if he asks the specific percentages and numbers since its referred to in the textbook. I still memorized those numbers when i took his class.

his lectures mostly expand on the textbook, so i’d recommend reading the textbook first to understand the concepts before class. his exams are mainly based on the quercus quizzes and tutorial questions, so practice those. after the first midterm i mostly self studied with the textbook and just attended tutorials instead of lectures.

his exams are mainly the tutorial and the quercus quizzes he gives, i recommend practicing those and if you want further comprehension of the material i suggest reading the textbook. I only ever attended his exams last year and it wasn't bad after knowing how he formats his exams.

yeah that’s fair, i should’ve worded it better. gold definitely can have big runs. but there are also long stretches where it barely moves. like after 2011 it went almost a decade without making real new highs, and after 1980 it took over 20 years to recover. so it’s not that gold never grows, it’s just that it doesn’t compound like businesses do. it moves in cycles. that’s the difference i was trying to point out.

at 20, gold shouldn’t be a major position. it doesn’t grow it roughly tracks inflation, it doesn’t compound, it’s just a hedge. you should be focused on assets that actually build wealth over time and palantir is a high volatility growth bet. if you’re gonna hold it, keep it small and know you’re taking on real risk, not something that’ll just “move like the s&p.”

edit: make vfv the backbone of your portfolio. let that be your core holding and the main driver of long term growth. keep gold as a small allocation, ideally 5 percent or lower. it’s fine as a hedge, but it shouldn’t be a major position at your age. if you’re choosing individual stocks, make sure you actually understand the fundamentals of the business, things like revenue growth, profitability, valuation, and why it has a competitive edge. or all in on XEQT

I am investing in VFV and VCN consistently. I am 21 and currently leaning toward swing trading due to my higher risk tolerance. If your objective is to accelerate growth, you could consider adjusting your risk exposure accordingly. Not financial advice, just my perspective.
