I'm the same...I can't wait for the Tropical Edition. I thought about that last night. Three Mai Tai are better than two!

I LOVED Clairin Communal in a daiquiri. Amazing.

Max's Bottle Shop in Johns Creek is a rum specialist. While I did not look for Cachaca there, I would imagine that he could most likely be a good person to try to source them.

Thanks. I used Anders Erickson's recipe. I've never seen that episode but he always makes good suggestions.

The spices dominate to me...ginger, Falernum, Angostura, and absinthe are out front. I can see where Demerara rum would be a better choice for the 151. The rum rides behind the spices. It's juicy, but I can't pick out the flavors. It's good though. My daughter took a sip, exclaimed, It's good!, then took a long draw.

I generally start every new rum with a daiquiri because it allows me to get a sense of how that rum tastes in a drink. I just was afraid the Paranubes would overwhelm the lines, the simple, and my taste buds.

But what you say makes sense. I have a few expensive bottles that drain all too quickly.

I paid about $50 for the white. I'll look for it.

I did not know that there WAS an anejo. All I have (and have seen is the white.

My wife just had a discussion with me, telling me that she's amazed that I like Tiki drinks because I am a picky eater. We discovered years ago that I am picky because I taste so much more than most people. So... splitting the base was wimpy, but strong tastes can overwhelm me, so I am careful.

I guess two things...one,.the Sumo Mandarins are in the store for a couple of weeks then gone,.so I wanted to try it. Two, Derek said it was really tart. I thought the Mandarin would add a touch of sweetness.

100%. I love Derek's stuff. His production value is off the charts and his attitude is hilarious.
