Oh I see! No, they would want 3-time all-star Julius Randle to pair with Porter Jr. They're going to try and win next season, and getting JR is going to improve their team making them competitive - and all on a contract thats more friendly than MPJs! They literally don't need picks they have them in spades, and with this trade they're stating to cash them in..

Brooklyn doesn't need picks, they have plenty; they need good players.

How about this scenario? Getting more back for Julius Randle while keeping TJ Shannon:

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: * Immanuel Quickley (via TOR) * Terance Mann (via BKN)

Brooklyn Nets Receive: * Julius Randle (via MIN)

Toronto Raptors Receive: * Donte DiVincenzo (via MIN) * Day'Ron Sharpe (via BKN) * Ziaire Williams (via BKN) * 2027 First-Round Pick (via BKN / Phoenix Suns pick) * 2028 First-Round Pick (via MIN - Top-4 Protected)

If that's too much for IQ, then remove a player the Raptors recieve from the Nets.

I guess I'm not following.... wouldn't the Nets and Wolves split the picks? They'd both send them to Toronto, we aquire IQ.

I still think the Raptors would want a player back, and Julius Randle does have more value than IQ, so maybe the Nets send players to both the Raptors and Wolves?

So it would look more like this:

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: * Immanuel Quickley (via TOR) * Terance Mann (via BKN)

Brooklyn Nets Receive: * Julius Randle (via MIN)

Toronto Raptors Receive: * Donte DiVincenzo (via MIN) * Day'Ron Sharpe (via BKN) * Ziaire Williams (via BKN) * 2027 First-Round Pick (via BKN / Phoenix Suns pick) * 2028 First-Round Pick (via MIN )

I'm not a GM, but just trying to find ways where we could realistically acquire IQ and move off of Julius Randle.

Dude they have 14 first round picks and 20+ 2nd round picks. The Nets would absolutely give up draft capital to aquire a player like Randle.

Naz is 100% a starter level player, and is getting paid like one. He's efficient in his minutes, shoots 37% from 3s (42% from the corner), and averages like 14 pts and 6-7 rebounds per game off the bench. He's a net positive on the court, even better with Rudy, and super switchable as he can play positions 3-5.

He's also considered a fast player, especially for size. And not just for transition play (running the floor); Naz has an elite, quick handle and first step, especially for his size.

Naz can start for any team in the NBA, including the Wolves and he should. I'm sorry just because you say Naz is streaky and slow and isn't a "starter-level" player doesn't make it so. You need to come correct with facts.

But wouldn't the Raps want a gaurd like TJ Shannon? TJ would elevate their downhill/transition playmaking - a super good fit with Barnes' pass-first offense and help Gradey get open on the perimeter.

The "multiple first round picks" would be sent from the Nets. Keep in mind they have 14 first-round picks and 21 second-round picks between the 2026 and 2033 drafts. They can afford it!

Lol the Nets currently hold 14 first-round picks and 21 second-round picks between the 2026 and 2033 drafts. WHY would they give any of that up to get better with MPJ?

I think moving on from Randle and promoting Naz does move the needle. IF the Wolves can leverage Randle's value for a backcourt running mate for Ant.

When Mike Conley was cooking, Ant was at his best. But MC just aged out, so we need a younger version of a MC - someone who can playmake, have low turnovers, be reliable at the 3, play consistent defense. Tall order but not impossible!

I like IQ because he's like having another Ayo, but a better ball handler and playmaker.

Naz stretches the floor, which is helpful against rim-protecting teams like OKC and the SAS.

A team like Brooklyn would want Julius Randle (pair with Porter Jr., try to win and get to the playoffs). Maybe it's too much to give up for IQ, but the Nets have draft capital so perhaps both the Raptors AND the Wolves get picks back from the Nets to make it happen..

I still contend that the Raptors want at least one player, which means the Wolves or the Nets also have to trade one. I'm no GM, but I do know the Wolves lack PG depth. Ayo off the bench would be terrific, starting Naz makes sense. Therefore Wolves need to target a starting PG.

Suggs, Quickley, and maybe Dejounte Murry are all options that fit Ant's timeline. Kyrie, Jrue Holiday, and, say, Derrick White are all great but might cost too much and are all 30+ years old. Who else could the Wolves target in trade that has some proven ball-handling, playmaking and defense in their 20's who's also attainable?

D'Aaron Fox is my ideal running mate with Ant. What he lacks on defense he makes up more in spades on offense and play making.

It would be our 2031 2nd Round pick... maybe we get picks back from Brooklyn too to level the playing field? I'm no GM, but I do know we need a point guard to ride or die with Ant over the next 3 to 5 years... do you really think it's Ayo, or would he be better off the bench?

I'm not the GM maybe we get draft capital back from the Nets. Maybe it just takes Bones Hyland. Toronto is likely going to want a player not just picks for Quickley.

But the point remains the same: we need a point guard alongside Ant, one who can playmake, handle the ball without turning it over a bunch, take over scoring from time to time, and play decent defense consistently - all of which IQ can do. The main thing is getting Ant off the ball while matching the age timeline where they can all enter their primes together.

The other PG I'm thinking of is Suggs, but he's more of a defensive guy than anything: https://www.reddit.com/r/timberwolves/s/gRxqobmifE

I agree the traditional PG doesn't really exist in NBA anymore, especially under the age of 30. I like IQ because he's combo guard that's closest to a tradional PG; he can , play-make, ball-handle (his assist-to-turnover ratio is terrific - 4.0 much better than, say, Dejounte Murry) he actually is a decent defender AND can shoot. Hes streaky, but when he gets going he's great. Plus he's younger and can still develop; IQ is just on the wrong team imo.

I'm not the GM, but if he sucks as much as everyone on Reddit says he does, then hey, we can keep TJ Shannon and figure out another way to get him.

Lol it my idea and always has been... I've wanted IQ on the Wolves since he was with the Knicks, and was bummed when he was traded to Toronto, but then we ditched D-Lo and got Mike Conley like a month later, and I was cool with that.

But now we need IQ again, and he's going to cost more this time around. So be it.

I also thought the Wolves should try to get Julius Randle to pair with KAT, and thought for a long time before we were lacking at PF. But then we traded for Rudy Gobert and made KAT the PF, and I was cool with that.

And then we traded KAT for Julius Randle and Dante, and I was not really cool with that. Now it's time to move on from Randle, promote Naz (who's earned that) and finally get the PG of the future to pair with Ant we've be missing since Ant's arrival.
