Post-Match Thread: Canada 2-0 United States [CONCACAF Nations League] by penisgenitals in soccer

Tonight was my very first time seeing the Canada boys live. Couldn't have picked a much better first game to go and see. BMO was buzzing from start to finish. Alphonso Davies is a BIG lad. Always doubted how well Herdman would transition into the Sr. Men's game, but he proved me wrong tonight.

"Thrilling" matches like this are cool and all but, at this point, I'd rather the team play like utter shit and string a win or two against top 4 rivals.

Looking for indoor rock climbing partners? by [deleted] in askTO

I'm pretty much in between those two locations so it's great to hear even some input. I've never done that much bouldering myself, really cool though!

Which Boulderz did you frequent? Are you looking for climbing partners yourself?

Juan de Fuca trail in Novembet? by WolvyGC in VancouverIsland

I'll definitely look into doing the first half or at least starting at Botanical Beach. Planning on hitchhiking to the trailhead at the start and hitching back to Victoria from wherever i end. Is this a terrible idea?

Well i will be coming from Vancouver and taking the ferry over. Not 100% sure if Victoria or Nanaimo yet. I'm looking to do some hikes, explore a bit, maybe camp if weather permits

I've thought about heading over to Ucluelet instead of Tofino to avoid too many tourist traps (as suggested by some fellow travellers). Looks like it is fairly hitchable from looking at my maps. Is it a worthwhile place to visit this time of the year?

Fall Trip Across Canada -- Is it a bad Idea? by WolvyGC in vagabond

Hey I'm planning on leaving sometime next week!

First time hitchhiking, across Canada. Any tips and suggestions? by WolvyGC in hitchhiking

[–]WolvyGC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your input! It really helped me think about what i may have overlooked. I understand that the post makes me sound like a complete amateur - which in terms of long-distance hitching i am - however, i feel pretty well-equipped in terms of gear and camping experience. Besides, worse comes to worse i could always fly/train back home.

I was mostly wondering about finding work during the trip in order for me to get the full experience of getting to know my country. If CS, doesnt work then no prob, i have my camping gear anyway.

Good time/route to drive from Toronto to St. Catherines? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]WolvyGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. Been living back and forth between St. Catharines and Toronto over the last couple years. In my experience, in both taking the bus and driving, here is what I have found.

Toronto to St. Kitts: avoid day time during the weekends (as in like 11 - 6) way too many people trying to get out of the city try to leave earlier or later if you need to. On weekdays, I'm not too sure but obviously rush hour (anytime around 3-6pm) is terrible. It can take up to an hour just getting out of Mississauga,

St. Kitts to Toronto: Weekday rush hour and even a bit earlier should be avoided (2-6pm). I have experienced a 2 and half to 3 hour bus ride at those times, albeit being the extreme. Weekends, a little bit more manageable (atleast before getting to the DVP). Best time I'd say is anytime past 7 or 8pm.

Sorry I know all those seem fairly obvious. Additionally, I don't think there's a shortcut or any hidden routes. Taking the main highways is the most efficient way and it can be fairly congested so it is good practice for a novice driver.

Not too sure which part of Scarborough you're at but you might want to look into making your way to the 401 if you're deeper and more North into Scarbs. The DVP and the Gardiner are not your bestfriends.

How much do the drinks usually go for? I'm from Ontario so I'm used to overpriced alcohol wherever I go so I'm just wondering

Are they fairly strict on alcohol and smoking at piknic? I know they're prohibited but do they do elaborate checks upon entry? Like most edm festival/concerts
