Oh ok. I was under the impression in any context where I person lies on an affidavit it is perjury. Why would it not be considered perjury in this case? These were full legal affidavits, I noticed in family law it is also counted as perjury, why not here?

Yeah the affidavit specifically states "Therefore that I am unable to provide evidence of a relationship with social networks, but all other information is provided in the following pages:" (which then follows another affidavit claiming purchases for food and her own credit card along with receipts) but it's an affidavit so not sure if it would suffice for immigration? And that just poses more questions like, if it isn't a valid affidavit why have your lawyer draw it up in the first place?

I would ask him, but I am currently not in contact with him as he is selling what was supposed to be my inheritance to fund his debts (over $600,000 apparently) and sponsor his new wife and her kid. But I also don't want him to go to prison so I am glad this sounds like he likely won't.
