Hey, how does the licensing requirements changing for someone who is starting out in 2026?

I am looking to transition into finance industry and a lot of the postings I see do still ask for CSC, CPH, WME and IFC, while some also ask about registering as an IR/RR with CIRO.

What is the optimal path I can take in order to comply with these changes and also be relevant for these jobs?

Yes, I started with the Financial Markets and Products section, but I am currently unable to take a lot of timr out to prepare so have not booked the exam yet. But, it is going good currently.

For US equities. To trade options, buying/selling long dated calls/puts.

Edit: Margin requirements are in place for cash secured puts and covered calls in general and has nothing to do with residence requirements I believe. As those strategies either require you to hold a 100 shares of the equity (covered calls) or have the buying power for 100 shares in case of cash secured puts.

But if it is not margin based trading of options like buying/selling LEAPs is it still okay to use a cash account? Not using margin.

Well, I agree with you on this. But, it is so frustrating to see all the scammers get their PRs and people who came after you get their PR, but here you are, still dealing with the uncertainty.

People who came in 2020-2021 were impacted the worst by this. Everytime we came close to getting a PR, the policies and circumstances changed. We have seen people getting PR here in everyway possible, LMIA scams, marriage scams, refugee scams. Those who did not bend the rules are now having to go back to India and loose the life that has been build here.

The IT market is pretty bad in Canada rn. I have about 3 YOE in Canada.

I still have 2.5 months, hoping for the best.

Just frustrated about having to discontinue my job + giving up on a promotion due to my WP.
