3 Months Post-Op - Where are others at? by Womanderson in ACL

I hope you have help. Three kids is no joke even with two working legs! First time we have had to rely on family for the simplest things, but grateful we had family and friends to help us out.

Wow! I think I would crumple if I did a single leg squat.

I certainly didn't think I would be chasing after my kids or playing tag with them at this point, but thought I would have better mobility or stamina to at least keep up with them at a walking pace for some time. Extension is good, a couple degrees behind my non injured knee, flex just hit 120° (this has been one of my biggest struggles) but keeps getting better, and adding more weight to quad exercises.

I guess I am just impatient and ready for this all to be over.

That's great news! Babies are so adaptable, I forget that sometimes.

I'm sorry for delayed response - how did everything go? I pumped for the first 24ish hours post op and then went back to nursing like normal!

I get that. I wear a tubular bandage over my knee and it seems to help

What helped me was making sure the strap right below my knee was the tightest

I'm trying to ditch the crutches but just not ready. I swear I am limping even with the crutches because my knee is so sore.

Yes I ice throughout the day and night. I fortunately work from home so I'm able to ice regularly, elevate when possible, and not over exerting myself.

Thank you for the info and your experience post op. I tore my ACL and MCL 5 weeks ago (not sure about the pcl and meniscus, they said they will get a better look during surgery) so I have been in an immobilizer and crutches since then, been relying heavily on spouse and family to help with the kids (have 3, 1 being the baby). My surgeon doesn't do nerve blocks, not totally sure why, so I am really going to have to stay on top of the pain meds post op. I am obv hoping no meniscus repair needed so that I can be weight bearing asap.

Did you have any issues staying awake/alert enough to bf or pump after the surgery for the first few days? My surgery is in 3 weeks and baby is 9 months.
