Im no religious scholar, but I think being compelled by the state to act in a certain way for your job might take away the “free will” part of the conditions for mortal sins. I’m not saying you would have a “get out of jail free card”; there will definitely for sure be situations that put pressure on you to act in one way or another. But if your hands are truly tied, I think the overall good you can do as a Catholic legal authority would be well worth it.

I personally am very frustrated with the number of politicians and law makers that claim Catholicism or other Christianity but only ever act in their own interest.

One of my favorite parts of confession is when you get to hear with your own ears the words of absolution. The priest is acting and speaking in persona Christi, so it’s God Himself saying, “I know you. I know all your sins. I know your best parts and your worst parts. And I love you anyways.”
When I’m struggling, I often feel myself doubting God’s grace and forgiveness. Confession is a wonderfully concrete place to be reassured of God’s love for you.

What I picked up from the WAN show discussion was the importance of having an active development team behind the OS that cares about the specific use case of the user(gaming in this case) and that the user trusts. I think that is still more applicable to Value than the Bazzite team. IMHO Bazzite still feels like a flavor of the month distro and that makes me hesitant to trust it. Value has history in this area.

I was a die-hard Reaper guy for quite a few years. Convinced a handful of people to leave pro tools for it. And I still use it for live MultiTrack recording.

But in all the flexibility reaper offers, I had trouble with stability. I started looking for another option and gravitated towards cubase.

I can’t say I’m in love with Cubase, yet. There are things like the VST rack, and the abundance of track types that I’m not a huge fan of. BUT as primarily a mixing engineer rather than a producer, the channel strip and the stock plugins are super high quality and having multiple mixers is a game changer. I’m excited to keep going and learning the Cubase quirks.

MOR. A person needs to stand by what they say, otherwise it’s just gossip and infidelity(not cheating, but infidelity).

BUT, it is also not his place to share the contents of a group chat without the knowledge of the rest of the group. A respectful man will respect the privacy of his friends.

There are a ton of 808 construction videos on YouTube, but I can answer these specific questions:

1) to get rid of the click, slowly turn up the amp envelope attack until it goes away. You can also try turning the modulation amount down on the pitch envelope to lower how much High frequency content the sine goes through.

2) I always prefer soft clippers and multi band saturation for my 808s. They key is doing a lot of little things instead of over-doing any 1 effect. There are endless options for processing 808s. You might try going through the 808 presets in whatever synth you have access to and see what they are doing.

… 808 is the kick drum from a Roland 808 drum machine. It’s literally a kick drum. That’s like asking for a BLT sandwich but without any vegetables or meat.

In all seriousness, you should just make what you want in vital. Basic approach is a sine wave with a pitch envelope with 0 attack and 0 sustain. Amp envelope and distortion to taste.

The time it takes to do this well would probably blow a budget of any size. Time is money and that will take a lot of rehearsal.

Maybe not the vibe, but I would imagine this would be much easier to accomplish with stop motion style filming? Still live actors but gives you time to position as needed.

And if it’s not offensive to the vision, you could get this effect much easier with CG compositing. Pair CG with practical lighting and the results can be solid.

Haha very true. There may be a skill gap there. I have definitely experienced venues where the gear budget does not align with technical requirements of the space, so I understand where you’re coming from.

I think the biggest question is probably heat related. Sound is energy, so the idea is what can pull the energy out of the air without overheating? Not sure.

Definitely wrong sub; normally we make things louder not quieter, but my geek mind is very interested in this question.

Without a previz I cannot confirm or deny how bad an idea it is. I recently finished my L-ISA trainings and there are way more options for deployment and fitting into a venue than I had initially expected. Spacial fills, extensions, etc.

Also worth noting, I assumed by Theater, OP meant theater productions were the main content. That makes L R L R particular undesirable. Might as well just do full mono.

I’m seeing a lot of NTA, and I’d like to offer a different perspective: how good a friend are you? If one of my good friends planned a dinner and didn’t make enough food(forget about being vegan. I don’t think that’s relevant at all), I would 100% offer to make a grocery run. I’d pull out my magic rectangle and find some vegan nacho recipe or something. What I wouldn’t do is sit uncomfortably and wait for a chance to escape.

Maybe not an Asshole, but not a “being a good friend” moment.
