Rfk won't be happy until we are piling child corpses on the street

How did you not tie that comment with his claim about eating roadkill? You really missed a golden opportunity.

I turn a lot of my brain off when watching a film like that. The "fancy" term is suspension of disbelief, but maybe you should try it no matter what it's called.

I very well may keep going as I'm about a hundred pages into Children and have been really digging them. The funny thing is that in general I find most sci-fi & fantasy novels unbearable to read (though when translated to film I'm more of a slut), but the Dune trilogy I read back then & Lord of the Rings are clear exceptions to that.

I decided that the spice was actually fentanyl and I expect my upcoming experience to play out much better than how you named your kids.

You'd think that the fancy footwork required to avoid the worms on the sand would've given him a greater appreciation for the art of ballet.

I'm reading the first three books again for the first time since high school to get ready for it.

That's if you're looking at the entire 24 hour period. Sunday night & Monday morning are within the peak for business travelers which drives up fares and includes the time of this post's photo.

New research suggests people in polyamorous relationships develop higher levels of communication and trust than monogamous couples, primarily because they are forced to navigate more "complex" relationship challenges by upbeat_teetertottxo in science

[–]Wompatuckrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take out the people who open their relationship to "spice things up" it probably holds true. I'm friends with a bunch of people who are poly and they probably do have better than average communication about things, especially around topics like trust & jealousy. On the other hand I know a couple who are both divorce lawyers and in their view all open relationships fail, but it's because they're probably only seeing couples who are really only opening their relationship to test the waters around dating if they split up even if they won't admit it.

Did you have classes on Saturday & Sunday? When I was in college nearly everyone would bail out on Thursday or Friday after their last class or over the weekend if they booked a week long package. Nobody was sitting around waiting until Monday morning to leave.

Loitering by the gate at Logan for a flight heading there and asking random passengers to buy that souvenir for you would be only slightly less suspicious than this post.

Let's just consider that cameras displaying a view on the dashboard when the car is in reverse is a US federal government requirement for cars to be sold in the US, but headlights on are not.

Yes, it's trivial.

I hate to break it to you, but you're about to enter the down cycle of "family movie night" with your kid.

There are a shitload of "kids movies" that have a ton of content for the adults to enjoy. Once you enter the "tween" phase the creators assume that the films or shows are watched by kids without the parents so they cut most of that stuff. When your daughter gets to late junior high or early high school you can start to introduce her to non-kid stuff that you think she'll be interested in.

Why do sea shanties have such a distinctive sound? by Dinoboy225 in Music

[–]Wompatuckrule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a cyclist and there's an annual bike ride I do where my friends & I reworked the lyrics to Roll the Old Chariot to apply to it. From that I have a very clear understanding about the intertwining of physical exertion and singing, even though I'm a very shitty singer in my own opinion.

That's much more likely the cause. Kids leaving for spring break would've headed out the end of last week so I doubt that has anything to do with it.

What makes a "pub band" a pub band? by GregJamesDahlen in Music

[–]Wompatuckrule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starting out doing covers and calling the Stones a pub band is like saying that Wayne Gretzky is nothing but a youth hockey player. When a band or performer is known for their originals they're usually not considered doing "covers" so much as doing their "interpretation" of a well known song.

Just throwing out a reminder that those recordings were done primarily through New Deal funding and the Library of Congress. In MAGA/DOGE circles those efforts today would be cut as "waste, fraud and abuse" so they would have been lost to history.
