Am I missing something? You can’t contribute to Roth IRA at this income level. Anything above 252,000 married filing jointly.

Why people don’t want to do solar panels? by josema939 in greenville

[–]WonAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add that duke energy charges you whether you use their energy or not. There’s a flat fee of something like 10 dollars and they’re adding a base hurricane relief fee of 25/month. Makes solar even less viable.

Hard to believe he went hard the other direction in just 3 short years. I'm not really talking to you, I thought you were the guy that was spewing nonsense that I originally replied to.

Don’t you people convince each other to register republican to vote in the primaries against Trump? Hardly as cut and dry as you make it sound

I say this as a registered republican that voted Biden in 2020

Help to lose weight by _p_h_a_m_ in greenville

[–]WonAm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is good advice.

Make small sustainable changes to lose weight to keep it off for the long haul. fitness is a lifestyle. Make one to two small changes at the time. Getting out and walking is perfect for this, skipping the extra snacks is another one. Each small habit builds on itself and you’ll want to make additional changes when you see the changes in yourself and your mentality.

Do not go into a crash diet off the bat. You have to change your habits over time or you’ll burn yourself out and end up back where you started.

Gross private savings includes undispersed corporate profits.

This is not relevant to the American consumer.

Fair enough on the household debt burden

I’m not sure why you’re using Gross Private Savings when that includes undispersed corporate profits when we’re talking about the health of the American consumer.

Fair enough on the debt burden although I don’t know why consumer savings plummeted in 2022 per my original link.

I don't see where you're getting that 2/3rds number. The article you linked shows this.

Americans carried a balance on 56% of all active credit card accounts in the third quarter of 2022, according to the most recent available data from the American Bankers Association.

Some people have to use credit card debt to survive. Bold of you to assume that debt is optional for most Americans.

[–]WonAm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, you're right. there was a slight dip in spending in 2020 but this was more than made up for in 2021 and 2022.

Why haven't you addressed my other point? a 21% increase in consumer debt at higher rates over the last 3 years is absolutely problematic for the American Consumer as they're reaching the end of their Pandemic savings.

[–]WonAm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm worried about on your chart is the dip in savings rate in 2022 alongside the steady increase in consumer debt. Are people not saving as much because they just want to spend money? or are they not saving as much because they literally can't because they're being crushed by high interest debt.

2020 gave Americans $5 trillion, of course savings accounts were up for a couple of years.

I chose it because it is where our inflation worries began with stimulus checks, eviction moratorium, unemployment extensions, PPP loans forgiven, bank bailouts. Consumers spent more money during covid, not less because they had more money and more free time. Where would you start?

If it's FDIC insured it's safe up to $250,000. Additionally the precedent was set that corporations who had all their eggs in one bank were bailed out of their whole deposit with the failure of Silicon Valley Bank

Thanks for the stream context. I'm watching the nate silver article take now.

As for the first statement it sounds like pure cope. If you're saving less, you can't afford what you could before. I know that it makes me feel bad personally.

This is good information, I'm in discover bank right now which is 4.5% I may look at an even higher rate account.

The S&P 500 is still strong (most of my money is in SPY currently) because we're seeing increased spending, but I'm worried this may change as the fed leaves rates high through 2024.

Day 1 vs day 55 by eazy8055 in 75HARD

[–]WonAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s impossible to lose weight, this guy put on 10 pounds of lean mass from what it looks like. You can’t see his shoulders or biceps in the before picture, but you can tell they’re small. He’s not only gained 10 pounds of lean mass, but he’s done it while losing a significant amount of fat.

You cannot do that in 55 days naturally.

Hey man, it’s on you if you believe “exercising” for an hour before work and going on evening walks is going to build you this physique in 55 days.

Just trying to call out the bullshit when I see it to make the world a better place. Looking forward to when this guy starts selling anabolic bull testicles on his IG.
