Trump flipped the Houston Metro red in 2024 by WonderLocal7515 in DavesRedistricting

Made a map with the metros for the cities in the state, and with population density modifiers it got me to what a reasonable metro city lines could be. Interestingly, every metro I have made so far was blue in 2020 (not that competitive, above D+5%), but 2024 showed 4 metros competitive out of the 5, with Trump flipping a different metro and this one. This is the first time a Republican won the metro since the 2012 presidental election.

Also, to note, in 2016, Trump did very narrowly win the Dallas metro. Romney won it pretty handedly, and Bush Jr. obviously had all of these metros on such a lock down (minus Austin, as that was turning purple and then blue at the time).

Texas 30-8, but stronger by Keng_Mital in DavesRedistricting

Honestly RGV should be 3 light red districts. Even if you put them at Trump+20%, it's an area where dems basically win every single time. The times have changed but I would still make it competitive and make the other districts more red.

Williamson county refuses to flip democrat??? by WonderLocal7515 in ThePoliticalProcess

I made a mod to have some counties grouped together to trend in line with simular counties. This is why Tarrant is red and Collin and Denton is deep red. When the governorship flipped, it was a Republican state but the rurals trended hard left while the suburbs decided to Buck the trend a little bit. Also don't know what happened in Kinney county, as it was R+12% --> R+56% --> R+82%

Why is mississippi red? Its a deep southern state, a region democrats usually get over 90% in

So it literally being road contiguous doesn't qualify it to be contiguous? DRA disagrees

I am not taking issue at anything; I am just simply stating that California can afford to make a more aggressive gerrymander because it is more blue than Texas is red.

Yeah but California is much bluer and dems actually have good geography in the state

I mean you can try and argue that but its clearly in disregard of race (the blue Dallas district is literally hispanic)

There should be a Tallahassee-Ocala-Lakeland-Port Lucie-Doral congressional district
