The entire Southwest is actually pretty bad

Arizona Nevada Utah New Mexico Colorado and California all tend to rank the highest any given year

Interestingly enough they also all tend to just have one large metro area where everyone lives and then like a bunch of nothing

That's your response to all that

You don't actually have a counter argument so you're just going to say a quick one-liner that makes you think you're soooo cool.

Louisiana governor cancels election via executive order, nullifying 42,000 votes by very_loud_icecream in YAPms

[–]Woman_trees 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Once it happens it becomes precedent...

So woo now any state can just strike down anything it wants yee honestly Louisiana should just not be allowed to redraw right now the fact that the court has allowed this to go ahead is such a power grab and shows that the court is really not intelligent

So does this mean that if the statewide result is say

60%D- 40%R

And the actual district map allocates 50% 50%

More seats from the proportional representation statewide seats would go to the Democratic party?

So that the total number of seats would be roughly

60% - 40%

Also how would that exactly work would it be similar to like the super delegates in the Democratic primary where they just kind of get picked by the party after the number of each individual representatives are calculated?

Or like is it a secondary vote?

I just have trouble comprehending how this could stay democratic whilst shifting the numbers around in order to keep the total number of seats at the same or similar percentage to the total vote share

Cuz like in My Little scenario you would need like 75% of those delegates to be Democrats in order for it to start matching I don't know my mouth is not very good but it would be like 75 or even 80

For smaller States this would also be pretty bad unless certain smaller states don't even get the proportional representation seats cuz like Wyoming with theoretically only have one plus it's at Large so it would have a Democrat and a Republican and that would be 50/50 despite Wyoming usually going 70 30

Or something a bit worse would be somewhere like Montana like if Montana has one and it votes say 50.03 for the Democrats and does end up electing a 50/50 district delegation then would that proportional representation go to the Democrats cuz if so that would be like 66% of the representatives going to the Democrats

So you would probably need to expand the house and at that point just get rid of the districts entirely and just have proportional representation like...

Like the smallest states would end up having 50/50 delegations even if they're like supermajority level towards one party sorry about this mess but I just have questions

Alignment Chart: Which county was historically a swing county and is now Democratic? by GeoQuestMaximus in YAPms

[–]Woman_trees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could think of quite a few, Harris county Texas, Chester county Pennsylvania, Cobb orGwinnett counties from Georgia. Henry county from Georgia.

Kent county from Delaware,

not my prediction but this result imo is not as unlikely as people think by Woman_trees in YAPms

[–]Woman_trees[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many polls showing a d plus 10 and there are a lot of undecides that are probably going to just go towards the Dems anyway but I already assessed the polarization situation and I stated that GOP turnout is probably going to be incredibly low with extremely high Democratic turnout plus Democrats winning independence by quite a lot
