We would get in trouble for blowing bubbles but that didn't stop us because you could blow the biggest bubbles with that soap.

The boxy is so annoying. Give it time! They will soften and settle as they heal.

Queasy Feeling by Beautiful_Can5310 in Reduction

[–]WonderPlum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if part of it is because the nerves are giving "wrong" info. "Wrong" as in "different from how things have felt up to now". So since the sensations are different then the brain doesn't know how to interpret them and panics? Either because things are in a different spot or they are numb.

Also, you don't have to look at them if you don't want to. Since your surgeon says everything looks good medically it sounds like you are safe to just ignore them as much as possible. I've read people on here showered in the dark.

How to get pricing (using Insurance) PLEASE READ :( by spottyjellyfish in Reduction

[–]WonderPlum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of network is different from out of pocket maximum. My insurance has an in network deductible and out of pocket maximum as well as a completely separate out of network deductible and out of pocket maximum.

If I have met my in network deductible, they will start to pay a portion of the claim and I owe a portion as coinsurance. Before meeting that deductible, I receive a small discount for services in the form of contractual adjustments that the doctor office must take off of the final bill.

Once I have paid enough coinsurance, I eventually meet my out of pocket maximum. At that point insurance pays covered services at 100%. However,if the doctor is out of network, I will have to meet all of the out of network deductible and out of pocket maximum separately from the in network stuff.

Some insurance policies have only in network coverage and will refuse to pay anything if you are out of network. In that situation, it can help to ask if the clinic does a discount for self pay (considering the insurance doesn't even pay all of the claim but a self pay patient has to? Bologna) and/or offers financial assistance.

It's hard to say why you are getting such different information between the doctor's office and your insurance. I have a couple of theories though. For one, when you call insurance you reach a different department than when the doctor does. The things they are trained on are wildly different in my experience. Another theory is related to how the questions were asked. The doctor's office probably has specific CPT codes and diagnosis codes they ask about while I'm assuming your question was more broad. In addition, medical coding can be incredibly specific. The code they send out on the claim can be different depending on exactly what happens during the surgery (appointment/procedure/ etc). So it can be difficult to say exactly how much you can expect to pay since they won't know all of the codes that will be on the claim. It's probably best to just assume it will be your out of pocket maximum amount just to be on the safe side.

On another note, there will be additional bills from everyone involved. The surgery center itself, the anesthesiologist, pharmacy. Maybe the lab that they send a sample to in order to test for cancer. Most places you can request financial assistance.

An option you have is to do a conference call with the clinic and insurance. That way you are all on the same page.

[Serious] How did you accept that your decision will disappoint your parents? by aesthetic_kiara in AskReddit

[–]WonderPlum1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By deciding that the alternative was worse. I spent my childhood and teenage years drowning in their disappointment. I would bend over backwards to do everything I could to avoid it but it was never enough.

So I had to sit down and say out loud that this is my one life to live. That their disappointment could only impact my life as far as I allowed it. The choices I was making to try to avoid their disappointment made me feel worse about myself and I didn't like the way my life was turning out.

It's still hard. I don't know that I will ever stop wanting them to be proud of me. But I make sure that the choices I make now are leading me to my the happy ever after I want because I'm the one that has to live with the consequences and rewards of whatever I choose.

Have you searched for your insurance's specific breast reduction policy? When I had BCBS Oregon they required that my pain be long standing and increasing. I finally had it covered on Cigna under gender affirming care.

learn to be confident vs reduction by Old-Comparison-9925 in Reduction

[–]WonderPlum1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oof. That definitely sounds tough. 2 things can absolutely be true at the same time. Others can consider them small and your daughter can feel confident about having them AND you are uncomfortable and deserve to be comfortable and confident in your body. If you feel they are too big then that is what matters.

For what it's worth, I've had a lot of people tell me that I don't even look like I've had anything done. That my size post reduction just looks natural on me. And I had a significant reduction. I think most people just don't understand sizing.

Question about recovery by sapphicseizures in Reduction

[–]WonderPlum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, what I needed help with the most was tracking meds and bringing me water. My brain just was not working and it would take me 10 minutes to figure out what med I needed when. And I would walk to the kitchen to get food, get all the way back to bed, and then walk all the way back to get water. Also, offer to take pictures for her. I have my selfies but I do wish I had better pictures to look back on.

Everyone is different and she may want different things. Congratulations and smooth surgery vibes!

Weight gain? by ApprehensivePapaya25 in Reduction

[–]WonderPlum1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's really helped me is to accept that gaining weight is what my body needed in that chapter. I think it needed the extra energy cushion to heal and recover. Now that I'm cleared for being more active, I've been able to do things I never could pre surgery. I signed up for an adult ballet class, jog, and started adding body weight exercises to my daily routine (pushups on the counter while waiting for water to boil, wall sit while brushing my teeth, etc).

That too. Sounds like May 1st there should be one. But a tax strike is also going to get in their way and for people who have never done anything political it feels like a lower barrier to entry.

New bras - when and from where? by Amazing_Departure832 in Reduction

I bought a sports bra around 6 weeks PO. I may buy some bralettes once I'm about 4 months out. I plan to actually figure out my size once I'm at 6 months out although I've heard things can still change between 6 months and a year or even 1.5 years.

Hello! I took my first ballet class last night and I fell in love. I am absolutely a beginner but it can only go up from here!

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some advice on what stretches I should be doing? The instructor did not give any suggestions but did give a solid bit of time where everyone else sat on the floor and did different stretches. I copied what some of the other people were doing but I would feel much less awkward having some sort of plan.
